When to move on to stage 2 milk c&g

Baby is 7wks old & currently on stage 1 cow & gate formula. Can anyone tell me when to move on to next stage?

You don't need to at all. A first formula is the best one for the first year if a baby's life. Because it is illegal to advertise first milks in the uk the formula companies invented follow on and otter milks to get around the advertising ban. There is no need for them at all. If your baby is hungry, just give more stage 1 rather than moving to hungry baby (stage 2) which will only increase the risk of constipation. The marketing of infant milk is poorly regulated .

You don't need to change at all. I changed to the hungry baby milk at about 4.5/5mo as ds was starting to wake for a night feed again. He's 7mo now and still on the 1st hungry baby milk. They don't ever need to go on follow on milk they can stay on the 1st milk til 12mth then can switch to cows milk

Second posters above - follow on milk is a marketing ploy. You can get it from six months if you want (it can sometimes be cheaper) but there is no need, and no benefit. Congratulations on your new baby!

You don't. Stage 1 until 12 months when you can change to blue milk.

I kept ds on the first stage milk until he was 12 months and we switched to cow's milk.

If you really want to change to stage 2, don't do it before 6 months.

Seriously though, later stage milks are never necessary.

Some people buy them, once their DC reach whatever the age is on the tin, because it's usually a bit cheaper. But there's no reason apart from that.
