My baby's due for his first Injections very soon and I'm really worried about them I don't understand them neither I'm worried about him having them my grandads brother died from having them when he was younger are these injections safe?

It's natural to worry I think, but the risk of serious side effects from the vaccines are very low - much lower than the risks of serious or fatal side effects of catching the diseases themselves.

Get some calpol at the ready, but many babies don't seem to even notice after the initial jab shock!

Thank you :)

They are very safe and far better than the alternative. My dd had them last week and she was fine- perhaps a little sleepy but fine. You'll need some paracetamol to give him shortly after the new meningitis vaccine to reduce the risk of fever (if you forget the nurse will have sachets). He'll be fine, just don't plan too much for that day, take him home and have the rest of the day cuddling!

Yeah same response really, it's heartbreaking seeing their little faces turn sad, but totally needed with what it helps them fight against!! Just buy some calpol to be sure!

When did your grandad's brother die? If it was a long time ago, vaccines now may not be the same as they were then. Serious reactions to vaccines are rare, much rarer than serious complications of the diseases they prevent.
