What is a good night time re-usable for a three month old?

I have a 10 week old DD that I am testing a kit, from my local group. I have tried Sandies with a booster, which did see her through the night. Well, until 7ish after going down at 9. But it was so big, she was practically doing the splits!
Then I tried Ellas House Bum hugger, as I had been told they were the most absorbent, but without a booster (I thought it would do the job, I will try again with a booster on this one, cos I like them! and they are made locally! Bonus!) and it leaked out the side. I changed her again, this time at 3am.
Both nights it was a good job I had as she pooed like crazy and leaked out of the disposable from all ends!!

Tonight I am trying a Fuzzi Bunz with a booster. I really like these ones, because they are the neatest of the lot, and my fingers are crossed but any input would be gratefuly recieved.

Also, what is with this pooing! All the time!
She is breast fed and was not much of a pooer, until now!

have you tried a tots ? or a tots bamboozle.... not actually tried a tots bamboozle but t tots are renowned for being v absorbant and a good night nappy... u could prob make a size 2 do!

mimpim · 30/11/2006 22:26

I tried a Tots during the day, but it seemed so bulky on her that I haven't tried it at night.
But I will give it a go tommorrow as bulkyness isn't such an issue when she is sleeping.
What about bimbles? I liked them during the day, they were neater but are they any good at night?
It's a difficult decision to make!

For night time a tots (unbleached) works well.

If you don't mind the bulkiness at night then I highly recommend a Minki Huggle nappy, lasts 12 hours easily on my little 4 month old boy.

I have not tried a bimble but i do have a Bumble which has a pocket for extra boosters and this is a good nappy ( they also do a Bambeasy which is a bamboo version)

Suki from Clwt Twt does lovely absorbant nappies called Bambw. These would be a good option too.
So many choices....!

Minki? Are those the fleecy ones?
They are big aren't they?
But if they do the job..............
And I suppose, being fleece, they won't leak.
Or have I got the wrong idea all together?

Don't think me rude ladies, keep posting, but I must go to bed! DH is complaining!

Do the bumbles come in sizes small enough for a wee one?
I don't have one of those in my kit!

bumbles are fab, only thing that work for my fella of all i've tried. i've put a bamboozle on him half an hourago as he leaked through the dizzy diaper and he's oozing already don't get the hype about them

must try the bambeazy for him, sounds good.

bumbles fold down on themselves to fit smaller babies

selee · 30/11/2006 23:32

The minki Huggle is not the fleecy one (thats the minki pocket nappy)
The Minki Huggle is cotton terry although it has a fleece liner attched to the inner part. And it is pretty huge but it does the job very well and is all soft and lovely.
Hope that helps !

Bumbles fold down for smaller bums. and you can stuff them with as much or little booster as you like. at 3 or 4 m/o I was using a folded microfibre flannel, now at 8 m/o I use one of the supplied boosters.
Our Ds has been in bumbles from day 10, he did have a weeble bum for a while but now they don;t seem much bulkyer than a full dizzy.

UniSarah · 01/12/2006 16:36

Just thought- if a bimble is good for her in the day its worth trying at night, maybe with a bit of extra booster like a flanel or microfibre tucked in with teh terry flap. DS was good in bibmbles till he got to big, but I only had 3 of them so tended to use bumbles at night when i didn;t mind that his legs were further apart!

littlepiggie · 01/12/2006 21:51

wambamboo are great, they are realy slim for the day, and with 2 boosters will do 7 month old ds throuhg from 7-7 even with night feeds.
bamboozles size 2 are good at night, and will be
able to be used in the day when she is older.

Dont worry to much about bulk at night as your little one probebly isnt.

What wraps are you using btw?

mimpim · 01/12/2006 22:46

I used the fuzzi bunz last night and it worked brilliantly, 8-8!
I popped in a muslin and a booster.
Should I have put both into the pocket? I put the muslin in and the booster on top. Don't know what my logic is there!!??
I have gone for it again tonight cos I used the bimble earlier today (oops, forgot all about my evening plans!), also I felt I could trust it for a second night.
I think I like the fuzzi bunz in general and if they do her for evening wear as well, then it saves me from using diferent makes for different things.
Also PIL are going to buy the nappies for me so I guess it will be easier to just send them to one place?
I noticed some on E-Bay yesterday and I was dead excited for a bargain, but they went up to £75 inc postage for 10 with only 6 inserts. it would only be £45 more for brand new ones inc all inserts! Didn't make sense to me!
Sorry, I digress! (ooh posh words!)
But it is so scary, in case I have jumped onto the fuzzi bunz too soon without trying out some of your suggestions.
I used the pro rap with the Ellas House, but I think it was too small, it only leaked out of one leg, but enough for me to feel a complete outfit change was required. Maybe a Motherease one would have been better, they seem a little roomier.

I use Bumbles at night.

I like to use a fleece lined nappy at night as, even it it gets soaked right up to the tabs, my ds will still feel dry.

If I was relying on only a fleece liner to keep him feeling dry I would worry that he would feel wet and uncomfortable.

soph28 · 03/12/2006 21:15

i tried minki huggle and it was useless.

Totsbots unbleached with a motherease staydry booster and a totsbots red wrap (fleece)- a winning combination- never had any leakage and ds was a heavy wetter.

soph28 · 03/12/2006 21:16

oh and i also tried the ella's house bumhugger- useless too.

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 07/12/2006 01:31

try babaloos they are fantastically absorbant nappys.

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 08/12/2006 00:45

sorry that's the wrong link. this is the right one. babaloo

also love these

and these

i occasionally use a totsbot fluffle at night (i only have the one , also just a normal terry nappy with a booster and fleece liner works well for me (on my baby that is!!). i think fleece liners are the key to keeping the baby dry - dd has had a dry bum with a fleece liner even after a really soggy night!! poo also peels straight off a fleece liner (sorry, tmi!), but the pooing at night may be just a phase, you never know

whenevilgotstuckupthechimney · 08/12/2006 09:35

oh i also use a motherease rikki wrap as i found a fleece wrap, though it didn't leak as such, dd ended up with a dampish babygro in the bottom area and had a bit of an eau de urine whiff about her too

fang · 09/06/2007 21:14

hi there - you need a bumble - hands down best for containment. WAY better than any disposable. plus it's fleece lined so the poo rinses straight off. get the nippa for a better fit. otherwise tots bots are good - the unbleached night version. make sure you use a fleece liner if you don't have fleece built into the nappy. you need to get the right wrap too - best wraps are imse vimse mothease rikki, or nature babies - all have gussets. good luck! oh yes - the disana tie nappy is meant to be great for containment!

Flame · 09/06/2007 21:18

I think my fave night nappy is a boostered quick flip (not tried the bamboo one yet, but that must be even better), other than that I go for a boostered bambineo, or boostered fluffle.

Bumbles are really good nappies too though

I tend to use a wool wrap at night, but probably not best with exploding poo .

Sleepgowns eliminate the issue of babygrows not fitting over huge night nappies - I love em

maveta · 10/06/2007 08:48

flame, what do you boost your bambineo´s with?

Flame · 10/06/2007 11:02

Anything - microfibre cloths, mother of eden boosters, extra bambineo boosters, an extra bambineo nappy over the top....
