What do you do for Halloween?

Is it too early? Grin

Last year I took my son trick or treating for the first time, although it was nice seeing him have fun - it's bloody cold and a bit tedious as some houses these days just don't do trick or treating, so you're hunting down the sweets!

I was thinking of doing a little party for him, with nephews and nieces, this year. We have done this before but he was 1! He's 3 now. I was going to make cakes and other Halloween themed food and I was going to make up a present bag for him of monster stuff and toys, DVDs etc. for him to unwrap. Too much?
Then I thought I wonder if there's somewhere that's doing something Halloween themed for kids? Like a ghost walk/hunt or something...

I don't know, what do you do?

We had a party one year which was fun.
They do Halloween walks for kids near where I live but we haven't done that. Might do it this year.
Usually we read a spooky book or watch spooky kids movies.

Dh and I will watch a horror film usually.

My parents did a party for my kids and my niece last year, we'd never done anything like that before but they loved it - dunking for apples, hanging an apple in the doorway with 50ps stuck in it, home made toffee apples. I think my parents might be regretting it slightly, kids are already torturing them with ideas for this years "party" Grin

Well, apparently one of my sister's friend's is doing a Halloween party, whether I'll go, I don't know. I might just stay in and do a spooky night for my son, with Halloween cakes and that, films and treats.

We never celebrated Halloween when I was a kid because my mum hated that the Americans blew it out of proportion. She only did one thing for us for Halloween, I was about 5, and when we came home from school she had made bubbly drinks, sandwiches with food colouring and decorated paper cones with treats inside. We never ever went trick or treating, it's begging to her. First time I went was with friends from primary school, with their mum.

THe party sounds great fun, there are lots of silly games you could play:
apple bobbing, eat the donut with no hands, mummy wrapping with loo roll. Make some scary snacks too, zombie freeze dance.

I would skip the presents/toys though he will have much more fun experiencing the party and dressing up for halloween, also everyone knows halloween is about the sweets/candy not presents!

We usually do a party and the kids invite a few friends. We do party games (apple bobbing, wrap the best mummy using loo roll etc) and take them out trick or treating. We decorate the house, play spooky music and put out some party food. The kids absolutely love it.
