New MN'er about to go loopy over dd potty training!

Hi everyone. I am a new MN'er and I need a rant! My dh just doesn't get how frustrating and difficult bloody potty training is. All you want sometimes is some sympathy but you get accused of making a drama out of it. Even though he admits that he would have 'lost the plot' by now!!!
dd is nearly 3 and was, for a short while, dry and clean. Then she had a period when she would poo in her pants. Got over that and now she wees! But only when she is with me, not at pre-school. Today was an all time low - she poo'ed on the floor, wee'ed on the floor and then this afternoon wee'ed on the sofa three times. One time she actually pulled her knickers down to do the wee! Another time I asked her if she wanted to go, she said no because she was already doing it!
At the moment I am trying the no reaction method but it doesn't seem to be working. I just clear up the mess and don't mention it. I am trying to encourage her to go to the loo but think that I am just ending up nagging. To be fair to her she does sometimes just take herself off and do the biz. But I just can't get why she does one thing one time and something else the other. Perhaps this is normal!?
Why is it such a nightmare! Please any advice - am trying not to put her back in nappies as we have been at this since July at least!

Hi there,

Afraid I've got no advice, but just wanted to let you know that we are in the same boat. Have been Potty training since End of July. We to have had a number of dry periods, followed by being back at square one again. It is so frustrating to know that they CAN do it.

My DS is 3 in Jan. We are currently going through a stage of him only going if I tell him it is time to do a wee.

Have spoken to Health visitor, and she says just to persevere with it. She says that some children are just harder to train than others.

Thanks for that! It is always good to know that someone else is having the same nightmare . I think you are right that the most annoying thing is that you know they can and have done it.

Have to say that today was slightly better, only two accidents. That said the little did sit on the rug for the second one and stare at me as if to say 'what you gonna do about it' and was actually laughing. Have now threatened no telly and back to nappies!!

Ah well onwards and upwards and back to nagging her. Perhaps we will have it cracked by Christmas xx
