Think everyone says that sunlight does the trick but not tried it as started using cloth after the sun went away!

Maybe leaving them on a windowsil in the sun (if you get any!) would help?

TBH when mine have come out a bit stained, I just use them and when they are washed afew more times it has come out.

Sorry, not much help so 'bump' to see if anyone else has any better sugestions!

Sammy, most stains are not a problem to your baby or from a hygiene perspective. Do your nappies come out smelling clean? What heat wash are you using? What washing products are you using?

You should avoid bleaching products as they will damage the nappy and wrap. Yes, sunlight works wonders but also bleaches coloured nappies and as you say if totally pointless advice in this weather ;-)

Let me know how you're washing them now and I can advise from there.

Odd as it sounds, ice helps too! Leave em on the line overnight, and all the next day and they get a lot of stains out (and are very soft...) Windowsill and sun does work, it can just take a couple of days rather than one.

Which wraps do you have?

CornflakeKid · 04/12/2006 08:10

I like using sanitiser - either mio fresh or onelife pure - don't contain bleach but do seem to get nappies a bit cleaner - and as long there is no poo left on the nappy and all the seams are cleaned I don't worry about the odd stain. Have left them out in the rain for a few days which does getthem clean and quite soft! I do have some ecover stain remover - haven't tried it on nappies but does work on school shirts!

we are not in nappies at the moment but no.3 due in April - so addiction has resurfaced!

the nappy lady recommends a Vanich Stick. I have one and it works a treat. It does not contain bleach or anything. It cost about 2 quid.
Also, soda crystals work well.
I use terry squares and nippas mostly so can put them on a 95degree wash sometimes. I dont do this on my shaped ones of course.
Otherwise, I carry on using them with stains and just wait till the sun emerges then bang 'em all out in it. i had a washing line full yesterday!

I'm in the process of atarting to use re usables and only have a few at the moment-think the problem arose when they were fogotten about for a couple of days and were dry pailed-but i'm sure they'll come out-just doesn't look so good to other people!!!!!

I washed as per instructions and the wrap is a white tots.

What and how much washing powder do you all use?

I'm hoping the rest of the nappies turn up tomorrow so I can start properly!!!
