So I had my 3rd baby DD - on 25th August.
Was lucky to have a Waterbirth and no complications.

I have a DD 6 and DS 8 so there is the need to ' get on with it.' Particularly as this baby is a new relationship (am divorced).

Am wondering as it's been 6 years since I was in the newborn woods what you do/did with your time at this stage? I'm BF the babe and knackered. However, have just started to do the school runs.

This morning I had to rest when the baby slept. But house is a mess and I can't help feeling that DP expects me to be superwoman as I've done this twice before and it's his 1sf baby.

When did you start going to baby groups etc?

DS, my first, is 24 days today and I took him to meet my mum in Costa so it was a big day lol. Every other day I've managed to dress us both, keep us both (but not the flat) relatively clean, feed us both and do laundry. I thought I was doing well until I read this thread. I've wondered regularly while constantly feeding him and feeling like a zombie how people manage with older children too.

.......... marathon biscuit eating more like. Even the second time around - that was worse with an underweight jaundiced baby - pretty much fed, expressed, fed, expressed, fed... went to weigh ins.

If I left the house before lunchtime or at all for that matter I'd have considered it a success.

Seriously if you are doing the school runs, supervising homework from the sofa and managing to keep some laundry moving through the system you ARE superwoman.

Oh those newborn days. I spent most of my time feeding my son around the clock and trying to sleep lol. Oh and diapers (nappies)..sorry I'm in Canada :P Also a baby swing helped a lot with the crying. I also took him for car drives and walks outside in his stroller. Most of the time was just keeping up with taking care of him, sleeping, and trying to get some exercise. My place turned into a mess for a bit too, but that's fine. I didn't really go to baby groups because I was so exhausted. To kill some of the boredom I just wrote a lot and drew pictures, also tried to do my hobbies despite me being tired. This helped me feel sane lol.

Don't worry about what your new bf thinks. Don't try to be a superwoman. The best mom's are the ones that don't know they are good moms :) I find that if you try and be a superwoman you can become stressed. It's better (for me anyway) instead of being AMAZING to be GOOD ENOUGH lol. As long as baby is well looked after (clean, fed, nappies, clothed) then that is AMAZING in my opinion haha. Don't ever be too hard on yourself.

I have 3 DC and have also been back to normal within a day or 2. The morning after we brought DD3 home I was scrubbing floors, cleaning and washing. Same with the other 2 (moved house a week after DD1 was born!). OH has never had more than a couple of days paternity leave each time.

Think it is both a 'control' thing with me and a real urge to get back to normal. I also think that he fact that I formula fed made it easier to get stuff done. An 'old school' midwife told me to take it easy otherwise my insides would fall out!! I shrugged it off at the time but do think it is important to take it easy for a few weeks - just can't actually bring myself to do it!!
