He naturally does not wind so now I'm giving him Infacol before each feed which most of the time does the trick but doesn't work sometimes.

Can anyone suggest anything else?

Perseverance - we wind for anything up to 30 mins at each feed, it always gets a burp eventually!

Changing position, walking around and (for unknown reasons) passing her from one of us to the other.

I would be wary of relying too much on things like infacol, it really is just a matter of time before you get a burp. I find that when I give up and put her down without a burp, it always results in either unsettled sleep, a huge vomiting episode 20 mins later, but quite often both Sad

I found a walk up the stairs helped mine.

sorry, lost half a sentence there!

Changing position, walking around and (for unknown reasons) passing her from one of us to the other usually helps, opening up the ribcage is really important too

Perseverance was exactly my thought too! Mine were a nightmare. By the time I winded them it was time for another feed. Infacol helped me as well. I just walked and walked back and forth and patted and rubbed. For me it was just a matter of enormous patience. It takes time to adjust to life outside of the womb. You will find that winding will get easier by 8-12 weeks. Flowers

DH is 6'4" and if he stood up quickly with DD something would come up by the 3rd or 4th time. I would stop feeding to burp. I rubbed their backs really hard in a clockwise motion with the base of my hand and then lifted both their arms up.

Does he seem distressed at all? Because I spent ages trying to wind my first, then gave up (I will be eternally grateful to Libby Purves!) and realised that she was absolutely fine without. With my second I didn't even try and he was fine too.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 13/09/2015 19:51

I was going to ask the same as Bertrand.

Yes he gets very irritated if he doesn't wind. Won't settle, won't sleep & very cranky.

That's the only reason I started using Infacol, but doesn't always work.

horse it's the same situation here, by the time he actually burps he settles for 20mins or so & next feed is due.

Just wondering wether I should try a new teat which Tommee Tippee do it's called VariFlow. It's got mixed reviews

Or to maybe try MAM bottles/Dr Browns

So confused lol!!
