I am equal parts amused/mortified by this. We have three week old son and our other son is 2 1/2, his routine has lapsed somewhat as we try and find our way through being a family of four instead of three which has meant much more TV than usual.
Today he said "yey, Supermarket! My favourite!" at the money supermarket ad of the guy pole-dancing Blush
Anyone else care to admit their terrible parenting?!

Congratulations on your baby! Entirely understandable - don't worry!

MintChocAddict · 06/09/2015 22:29

When your small boy asks if it's nearly summer vacation, can he go to the movies, get some candy and have a yard sale.
We're very much not in the USA. Wink

When my dd got a stain on her top and told me we needed to get some vanish gold Grin. It worked though!

After DC4 was born I eventually worked out that DC3 had way way too much knowledge of Ocean Finance interest rates and those of other dodgy money-lending outfits. It was a bad day.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 06/09/2015 22:36

I have a 22 month old and an 8 week old, the TV is currently our best friend! DD has started waving and saying 'bye bye' as soon as the British Gas advert comes on, as the man on it waves as he leaves at the end! She also calls the man on the Cillit Bang advert 'daddy' which worries DH somewhat ????

spanisharmada · 06/09/2015 22:43

When DD1 told me I should buy Pampers for DD3 because it would keep her happy for 12 hours. TBF I had asked if she had any ideas on how I could cheer the little grump up.

Gileswithachainsaw · 06/09/2015 22:44

when everything's said in an American accent Blush

GlitzAndGigglesx · 06/09/2015 22:49

When my 4yo proudly told me on a bus in front of people that she's buying me the crystal stick for my dry feet. She means that Scholl diamond crystal foot file. She has the best intentions I'm sure

GlitzAndGigglesx · 06/09/2015 22:50

I should add its advertised on TV quite a lot

Strawberrybubblegum · 06/09/2015 22:51

When 2.5 yo DD keeps asking for a tuba. (Sarah and Duck - we're sadly not a musical family...)

JellyMouldJnr · 06/09/2015 22:53

my 5 year old asked me if we could visit oak furniture land. I had to explain it was not similar to legoland.

NinjaLeprechaun · 07/09/2015 02:40

"when everything's said in an American accent"
I'm in the US, but when my daughter was little a lot of kids tv came from Canada (I don't know if it still does), and at one point she had a broad Canadian accent. Grin

Hassled Grin DS (5) does this. He's mad into maths at the minute, which is great. And he loves reading the small print on TV adverts, which is odd but also great.

The other week in ASDA, I didn't have any cash on me at the till so had to use card. When I said 'oh no, I don't have any money', DS reeled off a whole list of payday loan companies, how much each would let me borrow and what their interest rates were.

Weird child and bad parents Blush

MabelSideswipe · 07/09/2015 09:06

When DS2 said he wished he was Barry Scott.

wanderingwondering · 07/09/2015 09:11

Grin at oak furniture land!
Yes dd also suggested pampers when ds wasn't sleeping well.
I would have said that my children don't watch much tv and especially not much commercial to so it just shows how influential these adverts are

Jw35 · 07/09/2015 09:14

not cool Hmm

Helpmeoutofthemaze · 07/09/2015 09:15

My ds refuses to accept that z is "zed". It is "zee".

My dd complimented me on my choice of Finish dishwasher products, having watched that ad loads of times.

Gileswithachainsaw · 07/09/2015 09:34

yy to the sudden onset of Spanish

and "zee"

and oak furniture land. well.... Grin

Shetland · 07/09/2015 09:41

Newish baby here too. DD(4) currently does all her role play in an American accent and both have speared an errant sausage with a fork and then said 'woucher' Blush

It got restricted a bit more after that.

Kryten2X4B523P · 07/09/2015 09:55

We had the 'zee' argument too, as well as the correct pronunciation of the word 'zebra'.
