Are there any baby monitors which are safe for the Bathroom?

long story short Minipirate will be 8 in October, I'm looking into ways to give him some more privacy. we're at a point now where he is able to basically wash himself alone but I'm terrified of seizures
Ideally I'd like a baby monitor type device for the bathroom, so i can hear right away if anything happens. This way he will be able to have the bath to himself for short periods.

Has he had seizures before? Could you just leave him to bathe alone but with the door slightly ajar whilst you potter about on the same floor?

Yes there is a very long history of seizures, including 6 really big ones.
I leave him and pop in and out at the moment, but i feel he really should have a bit more privacy.

Surely the simple answer is that mini can shower alone? As long as he's not in a bath of water a fit will just end up in the same physical injuries that it would at any other time...... As long as the bathroom door opens out I guess or he could get stuck behind it, but that's only like him going to the loo alone .

Helenluvsrob - I'm afraid showers can still cause drowning. A colleagues wife collapsed in the shower and fell over the plug hole meaning the shower tray filled with water sufficient to drown her. I think in the OP's position an open door and pottering nearby would be the safest option

How big's your bathroom op? Our bog standard Tomy monitor has a reasonably long cord on the baby side so could be plugged in on the landing and the monitor put in the bathroom with the wire fed under the door IYSWIM. At 7 you could just tell your ds to avoid wetting it and place it nearer the door than the bath??

We were told no showers, even with supervision, as falling and hitting his head is a risk.

I've thought about that but he absolutely soaks the bathroom on an average day.
Do you know of any which are just battery powered?

What about something waterproof? This looks like a cc tv type thing that you could permanently install and just turn on when ds is bathing-might be worth it if this is going to be needed long term?

This says it runs on batteries or mains but that might just be the child part

We have a BT video monitor and the cameras can be battery powered. You could have it not pointing at the bath. Probably not the cheapest option tho...

Hi this might be total rubbish but I think some people have baby monitor apps on their phones and I pads that could be worth looking into. Before anyone tells me off I know these are not water proof but I'm assuming it would be out of reach of water and better than something that plugs in.

Thanks everyone, i will check these out.
