I'm starting to go crazy! I'm still trying to work out which nappies to buy (after several months ) and have been waiting for a Bamboozle to turn up so I can compare it with a Wambamboo.

But I had a sudden thought-I think I read somewhere taht totsbots had stopped making the bamboozle that you use with a nappi nippa because after a few uses the nippa wouldn't 'nip'!

Was I just dreaming this or was this the case? And if it was will/does the same thing happen with the Wambamboo after a while? And if its true why does it happen and what can you do to stop it from happening?

At the moment i'm trying to decide between the 2 (popper bamboozle and nippa wambamboo) but if the nippa will eventually stop nipping then I suppose that will make up my mind!!!!

Really sorry this is such a ramble (prob doesn't make any sense-!

Flamebat had been really helpfull before-without you i'd never have discovered the wambamboo! so if you can help me again i'd be eternally grateful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Tots have completely stopped the nippa version now and sell the aplix and popper versions only. I have an old nippa version and an aplix version and actually prefer the aplix, but more because of the shape than the fastening method.
There seem to be a variety of bamboo terry fabrics, and apparently the longer loop is better for nippas. Looking at the bamboozle, not looking like a long loop terry, quite knobbly really.
I've seen quite a few posts where people say they just bought a new nippa with sharper teeth and they could still fasten their bamboozles.
I'm selling off some nappies, including a nippa bamboozle if you are interested in trying one?

i nave some nipper wbb, not had any problems so far.

wbb. slim, booster can be removed, great birth to potty nappy

bz, still slim, booster cant be removed in the size 2 (unsure about size 1) so is bulkier, would be very bulky as birth to potty nappy.

makesachange · 28/11/2006 20:51

Hi,

We wholesale Wham-Bamboos so I can answer this with authority :-)

The Wham-Bamboo does NOT suffer the same nippa problem as the Bamboozle. The knit is different.

Note that tumble drying hot and washing over 60 degrees will damage all nappy pile and make it harder for nippas to grip. It also melts the aplix or velcro hooks on that style of nappy and straightens them - not good!

Hope this helps!

I have nippa Bamboozles, aplix Bamboozles and one aplix Wambamboo.

The Wambamboo is my favourite and if it weren't for the fact that I already have more than enough nappies, I would buy more of them. In fact, was debating whether to sell all my other nappies so that I can buy more Wambamboos!

The Wambamboo fits better than the Bamboozles - seems stretchier and also "neater". Also the aplix seems more "sticky" than that on the Bamboozles (which is starting to fail) although it is possible that it's just because I've not had it so long.

Dragonhart · 28/11/2006 22:03

I have nippa Wambamboos and would definately recomend them. They are sooo neat and I love the fact that the booster is seperate (unlike bamboozles) as it makes them quicker to dry and you can have it exactly where you want it. It also means it will be nice and slim to use for my newborn in Jan as you can just leave the booster out, fold down the front and nippa.

I have had them for about 3 months now and have been drying them on the radiator and have absolutely no probs with the nippa. Cant see it happening as the pile is pretty long.

Flamebat also converted me to Wambamboos!!

Thanks everyone-think i'm gonna go for the wbb-they are just so slim! But also as they are so slim has anyone had trouble with leaking? Do they always need boosting-do you just use the one you grt with it or do you have to use extra?

OP posts:
BonyM · 29/11/2006 13:54

Never had a leak and never used any extra boosters either, even overnight!

Dragonhart · 29/11/2006 21:44

Never had a leak either. Use the booster that comes with them in the day and an extra one (either hemp one, or bamboo terry) at night as my DS is a pretty heavy wetter.

Dragonhart · 29/11/2006 21:46

Actually, never tried it without an extra booster over night, so maybe it would be ok. Just havent had the courage to risk it!

They last for hours in the day though. I left one on for 5 hours by mistake when we were out and the back wasnt even wet. DS had drunk LOADS as well!

selee · 29/11/2006 22:26

Thought i would say that Easypeasy are making a lovely nappy called the Bambeasy and also Clwt Twt do a great bamboo nappy too (with a terry outer which is a safe bet for nippa's)

sammysam · 02/12/2006 08:58

Thank you so much everyone-don't know how i'd ever make decisions without being able to ask people!!!
I've gone ahead and ordered my wbb and can't wait to start using them!!!!

Has anyone been able to return their nippa version Bamboozles for a refund or swapped to applix / popper version? I've noticed by Bamboozles have gone a bit slippy, but just thought it was me!!

You can just send them back to Tots Bots direct (email them first) or contact the retailer you bought them from. They will add aplix free of charge.

NappiesGaloreBahHumbug · 04/12/2006 00:17

wow - its like its all in a strange secret code or something... why have they all got such ott names??

(and yes, with my mn name, youd think id know...)

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 04/12/2006 07:53

Just popping on to let Flame know that I've just ordered 6 wambamboos after her incessant promotion on MN!!I was very excited when DD2 finally got a bit fat for her size 1 night nappies - she's 8 months so well timed for a Xmas pressie - but for her or me??

Is there a Nappyholics Anon anywhere -I think I need therapy.

MerryChipmonkAndAHappyNewey · 07/12/2006 00:40

NappiesGalore, do you actually use disposables? I assumed from your name you were a cloth user?

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 07/12/2006 00:59

i use babaloos and i think they are fantastic. here

maisiemog · 07/12/2006 21:38

Hi WeWish...
I just looked at the babaloos and they look very similar to Wam-bamboo nappies. Do you know what the differences are?
I have a nappy review blog here and the babaloo is on there, so if you want to leave any comments on how you have found it please go over and have a look. It's really helpful for new cloth users to read.
I think some people had said they had to wait quite a while to get their babaloos delivered, has the delivery delay been sorted-out now?

WeWishUAMerryXmasNANappyNewYr · 08/12/2006 00:53

mine only took a week or two. sorry the link i provided was wrong - this is right i think if you order from the babaloo website it takes longer but you can get them cheaper.

also lovebums do a new bamboo nappy which is good. it is called the WAHM BAMBOOO, not to be confused with the wham bamboo. wahm bamboo

celtic kidz do a bamboo nappy too, and they will make it to order so you can mix with hemp and sherpa etc.
