It's really starting to bother me now, everything is either too small or absolutely huge.

He is a small boy, at 1years old is 72cm tall and weighs 8.9kg.

As the evenings were getting colder I decided to put him back in sleepsuots rather than pajamas for the warmth but nothing fits, even 9-12month sleepsuits are too long but tight on his arms, 6-9months are the right length but far too small and well 12-18months are HUGE

any ideas what I can do? does anyone know of brands that are on the small side?

I find supermarket brands to be smaller, Sainsburys in particular.

Can you cut the feet off the 12-18 to get them the right length?
My 4 YR old was wearing some shorts last week and I thought they were last years. They were 18-24 mths.....

Oh, and H&m boys stuff is good for skinny boys, ie the legs are very long, so we can stay in smaller waists (with the adjustable waists pulled in)

winchester1 · 21/08/2015 21:10

Mines similar sized and 6-9 month Tesco basic babygrows are quite good around the body but a bit long.
Otherwise I just use t-shirts nad jumper s in 9-12 and 6-9leggings.

Artandco · 21/08/2015 21:11

French brands. Always fitted better on my slim yet long children.

VenusVanDamme · 21/08/2015 21:14

DS will likely be similar size to your son at 1 (he's 10 months and wears 6-9 months at the moment, most trousers with a turn up too) and I find sainsburys are a good fit. River island is quite small sized.

I avoid mothercare as its huge and GAP is ok for length but really wide so no use either.

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 21/08/2015 21:15

I will try h and m and Sainsbury's tomorrow, and of they don't fit I will have to give up because realistically I can't just keep purchasing clothes that do not fit Sad

We find the one sleepsuit we bought in France whilst on holiday as an emergency fits perfectly but they don't deliver to the UK Sad

Vertbaudet is a French brand (so come up small) which you can buy online. They usually have good deals on. They have lovely things too!

BertieBotts · 21/08/2015 21:17

Separate pyjamas and put a different size on the top and bottom.

Frugi can be good for skinny, long kids but they are cut for cloth nappies so they have huge bums which might be no good if you use disposable ones. Plus they are expensive

Do try Gap pyjamas as well, the two-piece ones. They are also pricey but they are monstrously cute. Look on ebay if you don't want to shell out for new.

Artandco · 21/08/2015 21:19

Try online French brands:
Vertebaudet
Petite bateau
Chateau de stable

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 21/08/2015 21:20

our house is rather cold in the winter so wanted to put him back in to sleepsuits for the warmth on his feet if I'm honest, but if I get no joy I will just put him back in them.

ahh thank you, I will have a look at that European brand now Smile

Can't you do pj separates with socks

BertieBotts · 21/08/2015 21:24

DS was in two different sizes top and bottom from when he started walking until he was about five. It was really annoying!

BertieBotts · 21/08/2015 21:25

Yes go for slipper socks with the pjs.

Sugarandsalt · 21/08/2015 21:29

My DD was 75cm and 8.7kg at 12months, so fairly similar- would you consider getting some of the girls sleepsuits which tend to be slightly shorter? John Lewis 9-12 fitted her well at that age, got some lovely hatley zippy ones on sale that were perfect in 12-18 (they seem to come up small). Vertbaudet as one said before and gap also.

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 21/08/2015 21:30

DS refuses to wear socks, I think he thinks they are evil and must not be placed on him Confused he will ware shoes though to walk and run in, and if you do want socks on him you have to be quick getting the shoe over before he notices Hmm. strange child.

it is a option though, I will just have to persevere with the socks I suppose.

I think I found the shop we bought the French sleepsuit from kiabi, I think it's a bit like matalan and this site is in English and seems to deliver to the UK, so I will try it tomorrow along with the other brand people have mentioned as I saw some lovely clothes for the winter. We live in Wales and in a old house, so warm clothes are essential to avoid ghastly utility bills Sad

Totally agree re the French clothes, not particularly helpful I know. My 4to twins are still wearing 1.5-2yo shorts from sainsburys and they're not that small.

Mamas and papas are quite good for sleep suits but £££

Sugarandsalt · 21/08/2015 21:30

When she was cruising and walking I preferred pjs with slipper socks though, less slippy on wooden floors!

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 21/08/2015 21:32

I'm not above putting him I'm "girl clothing" no, as long as it's warm I don't mind haha Grin then I can convince DP that we should have dc2 and hope for a girl so we can use them again Wink

BertieBotts · 21/08/2015 21:34

You could try the fleecy sleepsuits, they are a bit looser. Like onesies for adults but for babies - Mothercare call them "Walk in sleepers".

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 22/08/2015 20:27

so today I spent a small fortune purchasing French baby clothes Blush. ooooops haha

Inkymess · 22/08/2015 23:35

Both mine lived in hand me downs at that age. They wore best fit out of what there was!!!!

GingerCuddleMonsterThe2nd · 23/08/2015 00:08

I have no hand me downs to use though, I will after this baby obviously.

also I have no relatives who have had such a small baby, my nephew who is now 4 was a long lean baby, but also his mother is now nc with us so I can't really ask Confused

I'm all for hand me downs and 're using trust me, but in this scenario there is nothing to use.

We also spent a small fortune on baby no 1. Same reason, we we basically first in friends and family to have a baby ( next youngest was generation aboves youngest at 12 years). But meant 2nd was basically free as all hand me downs, and now everyone else if benefiting from us I suppose!
