I've got a 3 hour (plus stops) drive to do on Sunday with DD who is 13 months. We've donr this drive before but always had someone in back with her. This time she'll be on her own. I'm trying to time it so she'll nap part the way.
Anyone got any recommendations for bes toys to keep her occupied?

Hmmm, dd liked the wheels on the bus cd, and I think liked little books. When she was 16 mo I gave her a big pot of fuzzy balls, the sort you use for craft and she had a whale of a time taking them out of the pot and putting them In another and back again, do you think this would interest your dd?

To be honest Dd often don't bother with much as she's too busy looking out the window or making faces at me in the mirror.

We did a 4 hr journey when my dd was that age.

I grouped toys into little bags so could give her a bag to look at.

I used lots of new things so they were exciting things like:

Wind up bath toys
Rubber ducks
Little cars and vehicles
Shaky toys like shaky eggs
Sensory bits
Bits of ribbon tangled

Also I put lots of little fiddly snacks in those pots with kids they can shove a hand in so I could pass them back.

She did sleep for more than 2 hours though!

When ds was almost one we did two eight hr drives two days in a row ( picking up our new puppy).
We mostly used rice cakes as distractions to get us to the next planned stop. We planned a stop every couple of hours and had plenty of time. It took around 11hrs each day due to breaks.

We did a 6 hour drive last Saturday, and regularly do a 3 - 4 hour drive - I've done that one on my own with her quite a lot. I try to time it with nap time initially, so she sleeps straight off. After that I just have a succession of things that I pass her - the favourites are my phone, my sunglasses, and a pair of swimming goggles. She chucks her actual 'toys' out far quicker than she chucks those things out.

My dd looks at books and teddies in the car, and she has a play steering wheel with a horn that she sometimes plays with, she also enjoys listening to music and that usually keeps her happy even without a toy or book. Tbh most babies will just fall asleep eventually on a long car journey like thatm

Thanks for the suggestions. I expect she will sleep for some of the drive. She's not a good car passenger, as is easily bored. Normally one of us is in the back playing with her, but not possible this time. I thought I'd look into a new toy that may occupy her longer than anything she already has. Attention span of a gnat is being generous! Lol.
The little bags of toys seems a good idea.
