Calling Fluffles users! : how many do you need??

I've chosen Fluffles because of the quick drying time and have gone for 10 of them to start with. Now having doubts that this will be enough as I have no real idea how many changes a newborn can get through!! The Nappy Lady advisor originally said we'd need 16 Tots Bots (the original cotton sort), with washing alternate days, so I thought as Fluffles are quicker to dry I might get away with fewer. Any Fluffles devotees out there who can advise?? We've got disposables as well to help us through the first days in case this makes a difference to your opinion. Thanks!

Hi,

I you were tumble drying cotton nappies then 16 when washing every other day is just about enough, as newborns get through 7-12 changes per day. As you've bought Fluffles I'm guessing that you want to line/airer dry. If you wash them in the evening and have a warm-ish place like an airing cupboard or an airer next to a radiator to dry them, they will dry overnight (whereas cotton may not quite do) and they will also stay lovely and soft (again, cotton won't).

Which type of Fluffle did you buy? Old or new type? The new ones feel gorgeous (like a teddy bear) whereas the old one feel "catchy" to the skin but are a bit less bulky. We only sell the new ones now as they're so much nicer, but they do look quite big on the bottom of a little'un, although the right wrap will squash them down!

Hope this helps,
Emma

Hi, I have a customer who has managed with 15 Fluffles and I think she washed every other day. Just a word of warning with your disposables, as Emma says Fluffles are quite bulky and you will really notice a difference if you are using disposables as well. All cloth nappies look bulky compared to disposables but the real nappy does your baby no harm and probably helps strengthen their hips and legs.

Thanks for all that. I hope I've bought the new style ones as I got them new from the Nappy Lady website but will have to wait and see what arrives I guess! I know disposables are a lot slimmer but the fluffy bulkiness of a real nappy seems to be part of the charm (hmm, hope I still see that charm when recoiling from my first poo-nami...)

I would say you may need another 2-4 for a newborn, but as you have a few disposable you can get used to how many changes your baby needs in a day before you commit to buying any more.

makesachange, did Tots Bots tell you about the change in Fluffle or did you just notice it when you got a new batch in (as I did), I find them hopeless at letting me know whats going on, maybe I am not speaking to the right person!
