High-ish heeled boots for 6year olds?

went to try and get dd1+2 their winter boots yesterday. they bought out 3 pairs of boots with about a 3cm heel, quite wedgey mind you. but still, a substational heel for a childs shoe. they have said to go back during the week to see if they have anything suitable in.

have told the dd's they are spending this winter in welly boots and to change into their school shoes at breaktimes if the weather has improved. PITA though.

Heel on children are wrong.

misdee · 20/11/2006 19:03

you're joking right?

god, why can't kids just be kids?

misdee · 20/11/2006 19:08

nope, that is the name of the boots they bought out. we want the 'gemma emma' boots. but none in stock. [sighs] might check startrite store and see what they have.

Yes heels on pre-teens too much. They don't even sell heels in child's sizes where I come from! (can anyone guess where that is?)

Carmenere · 20/11/2006 19:46

The tradition of women wearing heels stems from the fact that during orgasm women generally point their feet and high heels are supposed to replicate this and help to attract a mate, they also force the buttocks outward, again to attract men. So if you allow your child to wear heels apart from damaging the developing bones you are sexualising them.
The fact that a shop like Clarks sell them makes me very

Do people actually buy them for their infant school aged dd's why ?

Aderyn · 20/11/2006 20:17

Sadly - even some wellington boots for little girls have heels on them

Kelly1978 · 20/11/2006 20:20

so many seem too now. I really don't liek it, would far rather buy flat boots but they are impossible to find. I think dd's has about a 3cm heel on, but it is very wedgy so doesn't look too bad, but still doesn't seem right. I don't see it as sexualisation, but I do worry that it isn't good for her. She has normal shoes for school and only boots for weekends so I'm thinking it won't do any real damage.

God, don't get me started!
I am taking a pair of shoes back to Next tomorrow - following my mother's strange choice in party shoes with 5cm heels for DD's 5th birthday.
