Hopefully I'm not alone but does anyone else find the Tweenies offensive? They come across as whingy, moany and precious & really grate on me! I just can't understand what the message is supposed to be for our little ones?!

I loathe them, but am not offended per se.

TopCivilServant · 11/07/2015 09:18

Not offended but Bella(?)'s voice and general pinkness pisses me off

chickenfuckingpox · 11/07/2015 09:22

Hey, hey
What do you say
Let's all run away
From the Tweenies

Can't stand them, and the tune gets wedged in my head.

nbee84 · 11/07/2015 09:25

Another that can't stand Bella's voice.
I've often wondered if some programmes and books - like Charlie and Lol, I will not never ever eat a tomato - could put ideas of actions and behaviours into their heads. I know they usually share a good outcome of eating/sharing/helping mummy/being kind etc etc but could it give them the idea that they could do these things in the first place when they haven't even thought to do them before?

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 11/07/2015 09:36

Fucking annoying yes-offensive no. (Are they still about? Dd watched them, as I gritted my teeth, 15 years ago)

PuntasticUsername · 11/07/2015 13:51

From what you've said, I think you may have confused "they are offensive" with "I just don't like them".

Not that YABU not to like them. I can't stand them either.

superbabysmummy · 11/07/2015 20:53

I think I've learnt a valuable Mumsnet lesson today, you are right I don't find them offensive in the literal sense, they are annoying, negative and yes I don't like them... They offend my ears Wink

I find it unbearably shit and it's banned in my house!

BertieBotts · 11/07/2015 21:15

Yes I am with you. Sooo annoying. I hated them even when I was a teenager and kids' TV was "cool".

Something about adults doing kids' voices, but also that they are vacant and totally personality-less.

It's really outdated now as well. I'm surprised they still show it.

BrianButterfield · 11/07/2015 21:19

I had to stop DS watching Charlie and Lola because he definitely picked up ideas about fussy eating and generally slightly brattish behaviour from it.

tethersend · 11/07/2015 21:23

I can't say that I find it offensive, but I do think that they're a big bunch of cunts.

Twine88 · 11/07/2015 21:24

Its awful. Truly. Awful. Its the one programme that has me diving for the remote. The Kids seem to enjoy it..but (in a nice reversal of roles) I am left asking why? Why? Why?

bonzo77 · 11/07/2015 21:34

Bloody hate them. And zingzillas. Do they even exist? Give me peppa and Ben and holly any day.

Redglitter · 12/07/2015 00:45

I hate them. They're seriously creepy. My nieces comment when ever they came on was 'Auntie glitter doesn't like them'

I was much more a Charlie & Lola fan

BikeRunSki · 12/07/2015 00:48

I find them offensive because "Tweenie" was our childhood word for Fanjo when I was growing up.

StormyBrid · 12/07/2015 00:59

They offend my inner feminist. I try to block it out but sexist stereotypes keep sneaking past my defenses. And I am sick of arguing with DD about whether Jake is Mr Tumble.

Pantygirdl · 12/07/2015 01:02

I FUCKING HATE THE TWEENIES! Im aware I'm shouting but I FUCKING HATE THE IRRITATING WANKY TWEENIES. Now. Where's the drunk thred...

LittleLionMansMummy · 12/07/2015 09:02

I hate them, ds hates them. I often wonder who the hell actually likes them.

And i did find one particular episode particularly offensive when i accidentally switched over. One of them was doing some kind of Top of the Pops impersonation of Jimmy Savile!

Even DS loathes them and he is a real telly addict. Last week he cried when they came on. But don't get me started on feckin Bing....

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 12/07/2015 22:59

panty Grin

NotCitrus · 12/07/2015 23:39

Heavy-handed messaging - trying to be anti-gender-stereotyping etc but spend so long on the preamble that kids take home the opposite of the intended message (ds has insisted on wearing odd socks ever since...). Similarly both kids copied The [Naughty] Little Princess and Annoying Auntie kept buying more of the bloody books anyway!

The bounciness was less irritating once I had my own even bouncier preschoolers but I still didn't need another bunch of them!
