Does anyone else find the Tweenies offensive?

Hopefully I'm not alone but does anyone else find the Tweenies offensive? They come across as whingy, moany and precious & really grate on me! I just can't understand what the message is supposed to be for our little ones?!

I loathe them, but am not offended per se.

Not offended but Bella(?)'s voice and general pinkness pisses me off

I've often wondered if some programmes and books - like Charlie and Lol, I will not never ever eat a tomato - could put ideas of actions and behaviours into their heads. I know they usually share a good outcome of eating/sharing/helping mummy/being kind etc etc but could it give them the idea that they could do these things in the first place when they haven't even thought to do them before?

From what you've said, I think you may have confused "they are offensive" with "I just don't like them".

Yes I am with you. Sooo annoying. I hated them even when I was a teenager and kids' TV was "cool".

Something about adults doing kids' voices, but also that they are vacant and totally personality-less.

It's really outdated now as well. I'm surprised they still show it.

I had to stop DS watching Charlie and Lola because he definitely picked up ideas about fussy eating and generally slightly brattish behaviour from it.

Its awful. Truly. Awful. Its the one programme that has me diving for the remote. The Kids seem to enjoy it..but (in a nice reversal of roles) I am left asking why? Why? Why?

I find them offensive because "Tweenie" was our childhood word for Fanjo when I was growing up.

They offend my inner feminist. I try to block it out but sexist stereotypes keep sneaking past my defenses. And I am sick of arguing with DD about whether Jake is Mr Tumble.

And i did find one particular episode particularly offensive when i accidentally switched over. One of them was doing some kind of Top of the Pops impersonation of Jimmy Savile!

Even DS loathes them and he is a real telly addict. Last week he cried when they came on. But don't get me started on feckin Bing....

Heavy-handed messaging - trying to be anti-gender-stereotyping etc but spend so long on the preamble that kids take home the opposite of the intended message (ds has insisted on wearing odd socks ever since...). Similarly both kids copied The [Naughty] Little Princess and Annoying Auntie kept buying more of the bloody books anyway!

The bounciness was less irritating once I had my own even bouncier preschoolers but I still didn't need another bunch of them!
