This will sound strange , but, can anyone please advise on an EASY to open stair gate?

thought this may be the best place to ask.
I have a puppy that isn't allowed on the stairs,mouth have a 13 year old DD with special needs, she needs to be able to open it?!

I have a Mamas and Papas "Natural Wood Extending Gate" (that's all the identifying info on it I'm afraid), we put it up for youngest DC 7 years ago and have never bothered to remove it. You just lift it up one handed - really easy. It is screwed into the bannister posts though.

We use a baby gate to keep the dogs out of the kitchen, but I only have use of one hand so to carry anything into the kitchen I need to be able to open it with my elbow. The easy solution was to never fully put the handle down - this way the catches don't engage and you just pull the handle up. V easy to use. You can put some duct tape on the top of the gate so it doesn't get latched as it can't go down far enough

Surely a 13yrvols would just climb over ?

If you read my post theas18, it says she has special needs, a disability whatever you want to call it. She would hurt herself if she attempted to climb it.

I just want a stair gate that people have found a bit too easy to open, so my DD can open it and close it

Sorry you didn't say she had a motor disability.

Trouble with playing about with the mechanism is you may have a dog who can open it. Old fashioned ones that just lift up like a cot side than open may work but I'm not sure they reven made.

It's ok, I just said she has special needs so I need a gate she can open easily. Wouldn't want of us special needs or not to have to climb over a gate each time we go up the stairs, I usually have my hands full.

It's more whilst she's a puppy as it's got good for her to be up and down stairs, she wouldn't be able to reach yet.

We havethe babydan one that concertinas. The opening just needs thumb strength (you pull a button back and press it down). It doesn't have a bar across the bottom to step over. Depends on your daighter's abilities.

You can get ones you can operate with your foot? Would that be easier for your dd?

When I went to a friends a while ago she haD one that you had to stop and think what to do, as it was the opposite of what you would expect., totally threw my daughter! I don't want one like that
