Time for pull ups?

Ok, with DS I was anti pull ups because he just saw them as nappies and would use them as such. We toilet trained him at just under 3 - straight into pants with hardly ever an accident.

I was planning to do the same with DD (after a foiled attempt about a month ago when she wore knickers for half a morning then wet them and asked for her nappy back)

But, it seems she has toilet trained herself. For the last 3 days she has done a wee in the toilet every time she has needed to go ... "My do wee wees in da toilet Mummy" and off we trot. Great!
Except ... she refuses to wear knickers and we have to go through the whole nappy off/nappy on scenario after each toilet trip Which is a pain when we are out and about as I don't like to lie her down on a public toilet floor and I am crap at putting her nappy on while she is standing up ....

So - time for pull ups do you think?

I would say so. I think the knickers are a bad memory for her and as that fades it will be the next stage.

ghosty I use pull ups with dd1 because we have issues like this as well as the developmental delay. There is on the market here in Aus a huggies pull up that is the 14 - 18kg size - nappy pant - more absorbant than trainers but with the same style elastic sides - dd1 has been pulling her own pants up and down at home and seems confident with doing wees in the toilet due to the ease of up and down but they are absorbant as usual so she can wear them at night too.

That was the other reason I went for them as well - try changing a 4yo in a baby and parent room and see the looks you get - so much easier. In fact have dd2 in pull up style nappies from Aldi simply because it is easier to change her.

So Aldi do them - pack of 28 or so for about 17 AUD - sizing 12 - 25kg

huggies are about $20 AU for 22 or so.

sorry for that long message. Not sure if you are here yet or not - so sorry if this is irrelevant.

Dd1 did not get on with knickers earlier when she started showing some interest in toilet - but these pull ups have made such a difference.

Thanks for that eidsvold and threebob ....
Eids, am not in Aus yet (end of Jan) but if she is still insisting on nappies by then I will go to the first Aldi I find

So, pull ups it is then ...

ghosty would it not be possible to take her out on a special trip to buy some special new big girl knickers with her favourite character on them? And then use them and ditch the out of favour knickers.

I would think this is the preferable option, but if it is a no-go then yes head for the pullups.

You have a point there Bozza ...
We chose the knickers she has now together ... but clearly she was so traumatised by the wetting incident that she won't have them anymore (well, for now anyway) ....
Weekend knicker shopping in order (I suppose she needs more than 7? The out of favour ones are a 7 pack )

Ds took against several pair of undies - which are now his favourites. So just keep the 7 pack and sneak them back when she's cracked it and the memory is distant.
