Recommendations for nappies that don't leak on newborn?

Wondering what nappies people have found best for first size (baby now 7 pound 6)? We are getting several leaky ones a day -up the back generally.
Have tried aldi and pampers premium protection so far -both have same problem.

We double up at night and then put a slightly too small vest over the top to hold them on even better. Could you try something similar?
The over nappy rarely gets dirty so becomes the inner nappy at changes so you aren't really using any extra nappies.

Asda served us well. And cheap too. Don't bother with sainsburys.

Maybe try moving up to size 2s? My D'S was born slightly bigger than your baby and with a large bladder capacity, that the size 1s couldn't contain. Once I swapped I found any brand did the job. The same thing has happened going up each size - just moved up to size 4: even though the waist band tabs were still almost touching on the size 3 nappies there was no longer enough padding to absorb the wees.

IME Pampers New Baby/ Baby Dry are the best at preventing leaks. Try using the next size up and make sure the baby's bodysuit isn't too tight.

Pampers were good for us. Are you turning inwards the papery bit at the top and making sure the leg frill are outside the nappy? Those two things should help prevent leaks.

Useful advice here. I do the leg frill , but didn't know about turning the top inwards (and this is dc2!). Also, wouldn't have occurred to me to use next size up as I thought if anything the leaks would be because they were too big, as they tend to be out of the top and the waist tabs still need to be done up to touching in the middle!
Will try some of these suggestions.

Use the wraps rant are used for cloth nappies? I use cloth but it's the wraps that hold the explosions. Used wraps over disposables when on hols and avoided any nasty leaks

We usually found that going a size up stopped the leaks.

And if your baby is a boy (don't think you said) we try to remember to point the penis downwards

I have tried Naty, Boots and Pampers. Pampers works best. Make sure it is not loose on the baby but you make it tight.

I have used Tesco for both my sons and have never had a problem. I then changed to pampers once they sleep through the night and get more active
