BLW when on holiday abroad

We are away on holiday to Portugal soon. DD will be 8mo by the time we go and has been taking solids quite well. We are doing mainly BLW and she is really good at picking up putting to her mouth and biting bits off which she chews and variable amounts will be swallowed. She will also take some yoghurt by spoon feeding but most definitely is not keen to take anything else by spoon.

Query is - what should I do when we are abroad. We are staying in a hotel so no self catering facilities. I am a bit wary about giving her food from the hotel in case of too much salt / food poisoning risk. And as she won't take purees from a spoon so pouches etc are out.

I thought we could give her bread / toast / fruit we can peel and yoghurts and obviously she is still taking plenty BM so no problems with that. I suppose I'm just a bit worried about setting her back re solids while we are on holiday with this limited range of food as she has been taking a good variety at home. Should I just not worry about that and feed her these basics on holiday to be on the safe side or am I too worried about food poisoning risk?

Thanks.

I was abroad last summer when mine was 7 months - he had quite a lot of bananas and then just bits from our plate.

He bloody loved bread and ailioli!

It's fine if for a week they don't eat the worlds most varied diet, they are still having a lot of milk at that age.

I honestly don't think you'll have a problem. If you're half-board/all-inc then there'll probably be buffets, which are brilliant for a BLW baby! Bread, cheese, crudités, crackers, fruit, cold meats etc. Would she eat yoghurt or purées directly from pictures?

Pictures = pouches!!

Thanks. I haven't tried to give her a yoghurt directly from the pouch yet but saw a mum doing this during the week so will give it a try.

We have stayed at the hotel before and they do have a fab buffet at breakfast so there should be plenty to choose from. I guess I will just stick to the less risky items like peelable fruit etc and as you say not worry too much about just one week of less variety. Who knows it might even give her even more interest in the variety of foods when we get home.
