i'm looking to get a wool cover for each of my 2 for night time and i'm torn between a popolini or one of those pull up ones (not the garishly coloured hand knitted ones, the cream coloured one). i'm not a huge fan of velcro so not keen on the imse bimse one

advice please!

Would suggest Couche Cover from Puddlepants but it has velcro closings. Other than that I have used a Disana pull up cover with really good results - they are very thick as they are double knitted so offer lots of protection from leaks.

hmmmm, thtas what i was thinking, but they look so much like jumper material my brain can't comprehend them actually being water proof iykwim?!

i was going to suggest babylonglegs longies. but they are hand knitted.

Flamesparrow · 08/11/2006 18:59

You can get non-garishly coloured handknitted woollywraps... was it the colour objection, the handknitted, or both?

PinkTulips · 08/11/2006 19:09

well the ones i've seen on the net so far have all looked very rough and quite lumpy, like something your gran would make and certainly not something i'd pay mad amounts of money for. i like the look of the popolini ones as to my rather skeptical eyes they look more waterproof than the others! but i've seen pictures of babies earing the pull up types and if they really are waterpfroof theý look so comfy. and much more toddler proof!

They are really good (the Disana pull up) and cheap too . Needs lots of lanolin though to get really waterproof. My ds2 can undo velcro but can't get the disana ones off. I also have a pair of wool longies from Peachy Cheeks (on eBay) and they are soooo soft and lovely. We use those instead of pj bottoms.

Flamesparrow · 08/11/2006 19:18

woollywraps They do shorts and wrap ones too...

PinkTulips · 08/11/2006 19:24

the peachy cheeks are lovely actually, love the idea of using instead of pj pants, i'm sick of coming in in the morning and finding dd with her nappy undone!

do they work well? honestly? dp will go mad if i spend money on these and they leak everywhere!

oh, is that your son flamesparrow, he's adorable. so do you all use the longer ones instead of pants then?

while i'm asking actually, is it best to use fitted nappyes of could you convince prefolds to stay put in them? would save me some money if i don't have to buy heaps of new nappies too, although thanks to ds growing into the same size nappies as dd at just 3 months i have to do that anyway!

Ooh those woolywraps longies are nice flame . I'm trying not to be tempted now....

PinkTulips, I'm not sure a prefold would work unless you nippa'd it. I use shaped nappies, either Bumbles or tots mainly.

Flamesparrow · 08/11/2006 19:48

They won't be tight enough to hold a prefold (if they were then there would be too much compression...). And yup, that's my little man.

loopylou49 · 08/11/2006 21:49

I'd second woolywraps. Have got a slip on, shorties and longies and use them everynight (not all at the same time!!). Have tried othher makes and def find these the most reliable.

PinkTulips · 08/11/2006 22:28

hmmm thought as much, never mind i'm getting kinda fond of bumbles anyway, its a good excuse to buy some more, lol.

thanks for all the info girls, will have a scout round for the woolywraps now

dd3 in a her puddlepants longies they worked well, but she woutgrew them a while ago. the babylongleg ones still fit

PinkTulips · 08/11/2006 23:45

she's gorgeous misdee, my dd has a mop of hair like that as well.

so everyones agreed the pants type ones are best then..... hmmmm, will have bite the bullet and give them a try. (i still can't help thinking the popolini one looks more waterproof, lol )
