How can I make my pocket nappies not leak overnight?

Flamesparrow says to get different nappies for overnight but...

I have been given the fuzzibunz I am using, and don't want to spend much, so cheap options please! Things I have seen mentioned for stuffing nappies are microfibre cloths - are they any good overnight? Someone mentioned a hemp booster - any good?

Ds is 15 weeks, but sleeps up to 10 or 11 hours at night (lucky me!) so I need something very absorbant.

Ah..no replies due to the clumsily worded title, of course

I probably agree with flamebat sadly.. However, I have used pockets successfully overnight with a heavyy wetter - although not fuzzis but a standard Minki which are a bit bulkier. I find stuffing with some combination of a terry square or prefold plus microfibre cloth seems to work OK but I don't know if that bulk would fit in a fuzzi! You can often pick up minkis second hand - prefolds/ terries too.

You doubting me??? Hmmm????

Was thinkin... how about a wrap over the top? You could up your boosterage then and not have to worry so much about the sides pulling? It'd mean you could sort of stuff inside the nappy but outside the pocket iyswim. One airflow, rinse it in the mornings, it'd be dry by the next night - or even a wool one - air it during the day, and hardly ever needs washing.

We always used to get leaks if I tried to use FBs overnight but as DS got older and his body shape changed they started to work fine.

When the Fuzzis didn't work overnight a Slinki Minki worked fine. We had three of those just for overnight use. I can't remember what I used to stuff them with, exactly (I think pad-folded terries and some microfibre) but now we use 4-layer hemp boosters overnight and they cope well -- I think they would work fine in a Minki (Slinki or otherwise...)

Just remembered our local real nappy project lets you try out a heap of different nappies for a small deposit. Might give them a ring

my son was a big drinker and long sleeper and his nappies always leaked, I found that putting a big pad of gauze from the chemist worked as it absorbed onto the gauze before the nappy...

[I'm off to google fuzzibunz Minki and Slinki Minki]...

i dont think wallace is having any probs with her ds' cottybotty, she just wants to brag that he sleeps aaallllll night long...

apparently fleece is good too but have not tried it yet.

Flamesparrow · 08/11/2006 13:52

That hadn't occurred to me...

I take it all back, I don't care if you have a soggy child

(Mine is 8 months and still waking every 4 f*ckin hours).

I'm guessing you're not in Dorset...

lizzythemonkey · 08/11/2006 16:18

flamesparrow - could I ever doubt you ?! My "sadly" referred to the likely need to buy more nappies not to agreeing with you!! Although actually I myself am always delighted if I "need" to buy new nappies so not really sad at all now I come to think of it.... oh yes, and my ds is 16 mths and still wakes about every 2 hours, it's only the nappy buying that keeps me going I think!

Flamesparrow · 08/11/2006 17:56

lol - I meant Wallace doubting me... hadn't occured to me that you were sad to agree with me . Must be like when people say "I agree with Cod... surprisingly!"

Wallace · 08/11/2006 19:44

I've been sussed mind you, did take me three tries to get one that sleeps!

Not in Dorset - just about as far away as you can get...the Highlands of Scotland!

Sorry for doubting you - seems like everone agrees

I've used a number of pocket nappies for bed time and the best option for my DD was a terry square inside Minki Stuffable. Very good!

maisiemog · 08/11/2006 23:09

I third or fourth the Minki suggestion. We have a bit of a chequered history with pocket nappies, so generally stick with two part. BUT when I stuffed a standard Minki with a terry and a snugglenaps terry pad, it didn't leak overnight, but DS looked like a bumble bee, it was ridiculous.
I am selling a couple of standard minkis, but they are a large, which would be extremely silly on a 15 week old baby.
If you do give up the pocket nappy option for nights, I recommend hemp or bamboo with a wool wrap.
