He'll be fine. Mine (I have 5) have done this or worse. It's a bugger to clean off them but the food slips down easily.

Fret not. Mine all survived and they've eaten all lotions and potions and one managed half a large pot of sudocrem whilst I was in the bathroom. Sigh............

lulumama · 07/11/2006 19:18

there was a similar thread a while ago!!!!! how much did he eat!!! it is probably mostly smeared around his face

i doubt you would be allowed to put it on your babies skin if it was terribly toxic if ingested!

call 0845 46 47 and speak to NHS direct if you are concerned...they have a list of poisons/ toxins that need dealing with.

sure it is fine!!!

Surfermum · 07/11/2006 19:20

Mine did it too and I hadn't discovered mumsnet at the time, so I fretted for ages. She was fine.

Lol @ "the food slips down easily" Mars!

lulumama · 07/11/2006 19:28

babylulu eats wipes...and tissues..and newspaper......anything but food!

kayjayel · 07/11/2006 19:44

Thanks! Just what I needed as I'm desperate for him to be asleep now!
Sure it wasn't much and it might help ease things on the way out!

Hi! I'm an Ex Nhs direct nurse - sudocrem was on our list of "products of low toxicity"! Along with, i was surprised to see, those little "silica" packets that are in new handbags etc, and are stamped with "poison, don't ingest" messages. One household kiddy medicine that is surprisingly toxic though is karvol menthol stuff. wouldn't let THAT bottle near my DCs

Heh. My 15 mth old has done this for the second time recently, why? I couldn't tell you, but she CRAVES the stuff. The Sudocreme now lives on a high shelf to stop her bizzare snacking habits!

justazombiemum · 07/11/2006 23:38

My ds used to fight me for the pot of sudocrem so he could get his hands in and eat it! Lulumama, your post made me feel so much better at finding dd eating dirty tissues out of the bin that she had knocked over earlier tonight, she too will eat wipes and nappy bags and even nappies themselves if she gets to them before I can clean up after a change. She is a grubby little madam but disgustingly healthy so it can't be doing her much harm!
