Fears you have had to combat...

since you have been a parent?

I am due my first in a couple of weeks and have realised that I will soon have to be a spider-mover and the wasp and bee swatter (I have a bad phobia of bees and wasps) because I am obviously the adult and don't want to pass my fears onto my boy.

I also hate snot - it makes me physically sick but my boy's nose will have to be picked because no bugger else is going to do it. I'm sure I'll get used to that anyway.

Anyone else been a wimp in the past and had to toughen up?

just being a bit thick

You have combat your fear of vomit BY BEING A TEACHER I guess.

i have always managed to avoid vomit in my classroom - luckily there are loos only a few paces from my classroom door

although i have had to put on a brave face (and my jacket sneakily hoping the kids wont spot them) when bees or wasps fly in through my window, otherwise i end up with a classroom with 30 hysterical kids running around. half trying to escape, the other half trying to 'wack' them with a ruler!!

Spiders. Hate them. My worst fear is for a spider to crawl over dd. What would I do? Would I be able to overcome my fear and pick her up if she was crying?

like maggiesmama- needles.
Had some NLP before trying for a baby, then a course of hypnotherapy when pg so that I could face the blood tests without getting so worked up that I might compromise the health of my unborn, Iyswim.
Having said that, I wimped out yesterday, and dh took Dd in for her preschool boosters. I haven't listened to my relaxation tape for a while, and I was worried I would panic, or at least that dd would think that injections are something to be scared of.

Heights - still really nervous but I will do much more now than I did before kids. They want me to go on all the rides at theme parks with them and up into high view points when we go for days out etc.

So many htings I am going to have to face when this LO is born:

Spiders
Needles (I'm getting better at having blood tests/jabs myself but can't cope with seeing it)
Teeth grinding - makes me feel physically sick - how will I cope when LO starts teething?!
Broken bones- very random, but a couple of childhood 'traumas' have left me with a fear of seeing anything looking or feeling 'out of place' IYKWIM - especially when it comes to fingers - eek - how do you cope when they've been trapped in a door or something?!

Hmm...I'm going to need a whole lot of therapy, better start soon!
