How old was your baby when he/she didn't go to bed when you did, but was put to bed at a certain time

Just curious, that's all!

For the record, ds is still mostly with me or dh during the evening, sleeping on our lap/on the sofa.

Was the same with dd2, with dd1 I had notions of bedtime routines at an early age.

I guess I'll start putting ds into bed "properly" when he's coming up for say - 10 months?

Ds now nearly 12 months has been on his own bedtime since birth. I started with a bath, bottle, bed routine around 2-3 weeks. Before that I didn't know whether I was Arthur or Martha!

My HV laughed at met saying cannot be done. I guess FunkyDude is just easy and took to it quickly.

7pm since birth and woken for a feed at 11pm. DS is 5 now and still goes to bed with no fuss at 7pm.

4 months.

He slept through the night at 2.5 months and after we knew it was a well established pattern and he outgrew his cradle It was time to put him in his own room. At 8pm everynight he goes to bed. The first two months he didn't like the idea of being left to himself. Now he gets his drink, diaper change, lights out, music on and mommy leaves the room, and he is out.

emkana · 06/11/2006 19:27

HMof2 - because I like cuddling him
because he's poorly and I feel concerned about him
because I've seen with my dd's that doing this doesn't necessarily mean they won't sleep in their beds later (both dd's very good sleepers)

Why ?

DS1 was about 2 months, DS2 was about 4 weeks!

Sugarfree · 06/11/2006 19:30

If you're all happy doing what you're doing, keep doing it,I reckon.

littlepiggie · 06/11/2006 19:32

at about 10 weeks, he would just keep waking up, also would not sleep in a basket.

kid · 06/11/2006 19:34

DD was about 2.5 yrs before she was put to bed at a reasonable time.
DS had a set bedtime from around 13 months when we did CC.

DS is now a very early waker, DD will sleep all day if we let her!

(HMo2 - if you are still there, how is K tonight?)

IamBlossom · 06/11/2006 19:34

DS1 about 8 weeks, DS2 about 4 weeks. Now they both go to bed at the same time at 6.30pm, after bath milk etc. DS2 (13 weeks) gets a dream feed at 10.30 and sleep sthrough. DS1 has always had a very solid bed time routine which I think has been invaluable, and DS2 will have the same. I am amazed that i rare amongst the friends I have made through having children who puts their kids down this early, many of them still have their kids up with them till 9pm, and a couple don't out them down until "they are tired". WTF? I'm talking toddler here......each to their own I guess, bliss having your evenings to your self though..........

WriggleJiggle · 06/11/2006 19:35

Not up to anything!
He just seemed pretty quiet and tired looking today. I felt his head to see if he had a temp but he didn't. He said he felt fine, but he definately wasn't acting like himself (he was too quiet!)

We started lying DD in her cot to go to sleep as soon as she outgrew her moses basket - about 4 months. we made her bedroom a lovely place and filled her cot with mobiles and stuff that projected on to the ceiling. We've always made sure DD has lots to look at in her room and she's still brilliant at going to bed now at age 3.

I think it was around 6 months for both

Did the bath/pyjamas/stories/milk routine from about 6pm but just let things progress naturally from there

'naturally' meaning screaming hysterically if I went within 50 yards of the cot

kittywits · 06/11/2006 20:14

ooh, I think at about 8 weeks for all of them. It's so lovely to start to have evenings back again

lovelybird · 06/11/2006 20:20

We started a bath, feed and bedtime routine without coming back downstairs when DS was 4 weeks old. Other then times when he's been poorly it's been fine. He's nearly 2 now, and he still has the same routine, and other than a few odd occasions he loves his routine and knows it's night night time and goes off to sleep without a fuss. It worked well for us, but he was a good baby so that helped.

Flamesparrow · 06/11/2006 20:21

About 6 weeks for DD, and about a week for DS

Bedtimes is the only routine I really do!!
