Breastfeeding advice

Hiya my 3 month old daughter is breast fed but she won't feed off one boob, I think it's starting to "dry up" should I just pump from that boob to keep up the supply? Also she's now decided she doesn't like bottles (I've tried pumping and feeding her with a bottle) she was fine with them up until about a couple of weeks ago. What can i do to help reintroduce them? Thanks x

Hi sorry don't have any experience as currently bf my first baby who is 6 weeks - but there are lots of knowledgeable people on the infant feeding boards so if needed you could ask mnhq to move the thread there. Either way sure someone will be along with some advice.

Can't advise about reintroducing bottles but I would say make sure you always offer the breast she doesn't seem to like as much first when feeding. I would suggest pumping to keep up supply if you feel it's becoming a problem, but oddly I found that by draining the preferred breast occasionally with a pump, it increased the supply in the other if I fed my son straight afterwards.

Not guaranteed to work but it did for us! Good luck!

I'm not expert (I'm pregnant with my first) but I was funnily enough reading about this last night. The book suggests offering the unpreferred breast first and pumping from it to keep up supply

I was in this exact situation with my DS when he was about 4mo. I switched to MAM bottles and made sure the milk was as close to body temperature as possible which helped him take a bottle. I was advised to feed him on the 'less favourable' side in a rugby ball hold so he is facing the same way as if he was on the favourite side. Unfortunately it didn't work for me as he was too big and wriggly by then, but might be worth a try. I found he would only feed off of hat side when laying down in the dark at night.

Just to echo offering that side first at each feed. My LO is a bit better now, still prefers the other side, but she will take each side now.
I found offering the disliked side at night feeds (when she didn't bother arguing!) helped a lot.

Just keep offering that side - I had this problem when dd was small and the phase should pass (still BFing 11mo). I found she would take the less favoured side at night time. A friend of mine referred to her less favoured boob as her "night boob"!
