Hi ladies I'm thinking of giving this a go from newborn and have been on the tots bots website.
Are these good?
Also do I just need the tots bots 'nappy' and an insert to go inside?
Thanks.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I don't know about tots bots but look at little bloom on ebay or amazon - similar I believe but much cheaper. I use them with no problems.
I use the nappy outer ( patterned colourful bit) plus 2 inserts.

Thanks for that!
I just had a look and they look lovely.
Are they bulkier than disposablees?

I use tots bots- they are great. The easy fit you just need the nappy and a liner and when the child is older a booster. The bamboozle you need a nappy a liner and a wrap. There are loads of makes out there I would totally recommend real nappies. This week is real nappy week so loads of places offering a discount on purchases. I also strongly recommend reusable wipes. Imo reusable nappies do the same job as disposable, but reusesable wipes do a much better job than disposable ones.

Have a look at Tiny nippers too, not expensive and work well. You can get packs of 5 for about £12 when they're on offer. Good to start with and see if you get on with them.

Reusable wipes are ace!

Real nappies are definitely bulkier than disposable though. You can buy vest extenders to plug the gap though.

Hi sorry to jump in and hyjack the thread.
I use bambino mio nappies but am finding them very leaky, anyone else have this problem? Am I doing something wrong? Other brands that have been more successful? Other people seem to be telling me they had no problems so Im assuming im missing something.
I also agree reusable wipes are ace! Wouldnt dream of using disposable ones now.

Don't buy a full set at once, different nappies fit different babies so you don't want to end up with 20 tots bots that don't fit right.

The nappy lady has a questionnaire and she will recommend what will work best for you - they all take different time to dry, need different boosters etc.

MacGotFat · 25/04/2015 13:44

Have a look on YouTube at The Nappy Lady and Tots Bots for lots of info and demos of different types. I loved my easyfit and bamboozle totsbots but also second the advice to try different types. You may have the option to get a trial kit provided by a local nappy expert too. They are bulkier than disposables, but different types have different levels of bulkiness.

Bambino mio - just folded in a wrap - they were rubbish 15yrs ago used like that. Look up pinned ways of using prefolds and it'll get better. Then get a mother ease Velcro wrap and it'll be fine. ( though we ended up using the prefolds in fuzzi buns !).

My 2p worth is re useables are brilliant BUT don't commit to one system or a birth to potty set. Differnt nappies at different stages. With dd2 I used...
Muslins and wraps when tiny
Bambino mio ( wicking wraps sold on fast)
Mother ease popper and Velcro wraps over daisy diapers - shaped terry things like tors bots.
Some all in ones for the childminder too for flipping ever to dry and weren't that good.
Fuzzi buns with prefolds/terries - they were bril
Wool wraps.
And - and I never believed I would- simple terry squares I various folds from tiny baby hood to toddler. Mostly as aback up but when she was big it was my preferred nappy - the fast dry is bril.

This weekend is the end of Real Nappy Week 2015 and there are lots of good bargains around (20-30% off). If you're on Facebook I recommend joining 'Cloth Bum Mums - Fluffy advice and chat' for help. Also www.thenappylady.co.uk/ is excellent for advice and online ordering. There are lots of other great online sites too - so many to mention - to buy cloth from. I use Little Lamb bamboo 2-part fitted system and a wrap. They're bomb proof. I also have a handful of pockets and terries which are secured with Nappi Nippas. I can also recommend Rockin' Green (Hard Rock) detergent. I have hard water and this is excellent - you can get normal and soft water variety too.

For newborn I used a flat terry nappy that I folded into the 'J' fold (look at You Tube tutorials) and secured with a Nappi Nippa and a wrap. I then quickly progressed to the Little Lambs. Personally Tots Bots were not for me though I did use a couple a few times but didn't get on with them.

I can also recommend a disposable liner at first to flush the meconium away. After that fleece liners are very good. I also use reusable wipes which are very easy if using cloth nappies.x

There are some bargains to be had on ebay too - I just bought 4 Little Lambs for£10, didn't want to spend too much at the start just in case I don't get on with them but the first day is going well!

Artandco · 25/04/2015 14:31

Have a look at wonderoos. They have a fold in three insert so very absorbable yet opens to wash and dry so dries quicker than most absorbable inserts. They are birth- potty as well so last until no longer needed. You stuff insert in clean nappy then just put on like a regular nappy. The minky ones are super soft!
