Phil & Teds vs City Select

DC2 due at the end of the year (it's very early days)!

DS will be just 2 when baby arrives so I'm sure we'll need a double, def need an inline over a side by side.

Can anyone recommend the P&T Vibe or Navigator? Or the BJ City Select?

I think I prefer the City Select but will no doubt change my mind a hundred times before buying!

Ideally I'd like baby parent facing, we have car seat already, and currently have a BJCGT. Fold actually not hugely important, but the comfort of both seats is.

Thanks in advance!

I've got the city select and recommend it. I loved that pram, sadly my two are two old for it now Sad it's very versatile and I found it easy to handle.

I had a city select and found it impossible to use as a double - we live in village with hills and cambered pavements and it was just too heavy to push without it falling off into the road. So I think it depends on the terrain! A side by side/p&ts would have been better for me.

Babyjogger side by side double here and I really like it. It would only be better if you could parent face. The new Uppababy vista might be worth a look too.

Depending on your age gap, I think the mountain buggy plus one might be worth a look. The city select is massive, phil and teds much smaller and easier to push but seats don't seem as comfortable.

I love my phil and ted navigator - the bigger seat is perfect for DS (he can nap while baby in lower seat without any problems) and so far DD is comfortable in the smaller one on the bottom, although as she gets older the lack of space may become an issue. I figure by then DS will be walking most of the time so she can be in the bigger seat and only use the smaller one when he gets tired. We bought navigator rather than dot as DH and I are both quite tall and the dot seemed a little low to be comfortable all the time. It switches really easily between single and double which is great for when you only have one at a time. To start with the baby is lie flat so while forward facing you can see them easily enough. We tried the BJCS inline and I found it so long - I can get the p&t on a bus easily which might be more of a problem with a bigger one. As a single it's easy to fold but you need to take the second seat out - if we're going out we often take stroller plus sling and swap babies around when DS walks. Apparently you can make the p&t parent facing as a single but I haven't figured out how to do that! My SIL has the mountain buggy double and loves it saying "it's only as wide as a wheelchair" - that can still be bloody awkward though in small shops and her children are rakes so could cope with the narrow seats. I haven't tried the iCandy but have heard it's not great - I met a woman with 18m twins who said they were growing out of it already.

I think with doubles there is always a compromise to be made between comfort of children vs convenience for parents, so think about your lifestyle. Where will buggy be stored in your house? How good a walker will DS be (obvs you won't know this till closer to the time)? Will you be taking both out a lot or is DS staying in nursery/other childcare during mat leave? Will both children be napping in the buggy? You have a few months to decide - good luck!

Thanks everyone, really useful comments.

Points that might help you to help me decide:

DS will be in nursery 2 days per week, so not a huge amount, we'll be schlepping about together!

We live very close to a large town, so mostly walk everywhere. If we do go further afield, it's in the car. Rarely use the bus or train, if ever.

DS1 is a good walker, likes to explore. But imagine he'll need a seat on the buggy too.

Unfortunately a side by side is a no go, just too wide for me! I'd also like baby to parent face as long as possible.

Roads around here are mostly flat but we do take fairly frequent walks in the local national park (every weekend). This can be bumpy.

Storage, we have a wide garage at the front of the house and buggy lives there. Rarely needs folding away.

So... Which double do I need??!!

I have the city select for my 11 month old twins and its great. I Live in a village with hills and find it's fine, the seating arrangements do make a difference to how it handles. We've taken it to the woods a fair few times, however I wou recommend trying to get it over styles though ??
I went for it because I really don't like the seat at the back underneath. I Did want it yrs ago when I had a 2yr old and baby but finances wouldn't allow, if only we could have seen into the future could of saved ourselves the price of the stupid one I had back then
