What words do your parents/ILs use that you don't like

Been reading the "unsolictied advice" thread, and it got me thinking about some of the words my MIL used to come out with, and she could never understand why i never used them. For example,
MIL used to call dummys a "titty"! Step MIl called it a "doo-doo". My mum called it a "sucky". How was i seriously expected to use those words. DS used to get confused becuase whoevers house we were at would call it their word!
For a poo, for some strange reason she calls "uh-uhs".
Then there's "inkle tinkle" for a wee. Or, "sprinkle tinkle" for a boys willie.!
Anyone else got some classic words

"blow off" for fart for crissakes!

foundintranslation · 04/11/2006 20:52

My MIL says to ds 'do ei ei' (pronounced aye aye) for 'give me a cuddle'. She's German, but it grates just as much in German as in English, believe me.

taylormama · 04/11/2006 20:57

nunny for girls bits (WTF) ... "doing wind" for farts and burps and MIL calling my DS "my boy" (err no, he is mine actually) ...

moondog · 04/11/2006 21:07

'trumps' for farts and 'busy' for a crap.
Staffordshire relatives.

Makes me want to beat them.

mckenzie · 04/11/2006 21:20

MIL says 'belly' which for some reason I really dislike - I much prefer 'tummy'.

BIGlilBUBU · 04/11/2006 21:31

Because belly rymes with jelly...jelly belly!!
Prefer stomach myself.

northerner · 04/11/2006 21:38

My mum says tushy pegs for teeth, but I kind of like that, widdle instead of wee, hate that!

Mil calls ds's willy his tail, always makes me cringe.

Bairn for kids - hate that.

McDreamy · 04/11/2006 21:40

MIL says going for "byes" for going to bed grrrghhhhh

And she has "a relax"

that's about it

nikkie · 04/11/2006 21:41

girlies/kiddies

EmmyLou · 04/11/2006 22:04

Mil: "Naughty floor, smack the floor!" When one of the dds fell over.

Its inanimate FFS.

Ellbell · 04/11/2006 22:11

Not annoying, but quite funny...

My MIL always says goodbye/goodnight to my dds with 'Goodnight, God bless'. To which dd1 replied (when she was about 3), 'Goodnight, cobblers'. Luckily MIL is a bit deaf, but my (vehemently atheist) dh was PHSL!

Bibiboo · 05/11/2006 15:03

MIL tells DD when she's leaving she's "going tats" (tatty bye) - and my pet hate, she calls her trouble, how's that for giving her something to live up to?

southeastastra · 05/11/2006 15:11

phrase really but when my ds(5) was biting she told him the dentist would take all his teeth out

footprints · 05/11/2006 15:16

Oh, my mum calls poos "bowel movements" and wees "urination", which drives me mad.

Also, if dd has done a poo, my mum says she has "used" her nappy or "had a dirty nappy".

No, she has POOED!!!

stleger · 05/11/2006 15:41

I used to think my MIL was tired when she was 'going to sit down' - then discovered she was nipping off for a wee. (I haven't sat down today means constipation, and a long talk about linseed).

Gobbledispook · 05/11/2006 15:52

MIL says 'he has messed' if ds has done a poo. Sounds like she's referring to a dog!

SIL/BIL say 'she's shit' in reference to their baby dd

They also used daft terms like 'do-do' (dummy), 'bot bot' (bottle of milk)

I won't even talk about the racist comments

3andnomore · 05/11/2006 16:03

foundintranslation....eiei would usually be used for stroking (streicheln) though, wouldn't it? Or maybe that was just where I come from, lol!
And AA for #2's, lol! Pflaume (Plum) for female bits, lmao...my mum!
