infacol for wind?

my dd is 4.5 weeks old and has always had trouble having bowel movement and passing wind. she strains til she's red in the face and cries in distress - however she is not constipated as her stools are like a runny paste.
would infacol help her get rid of wind down there and ease bowel movements or is it just for colic?

My boy still does this at 9 weeks. You could try Infacol but I think it's pretty normal.

try infacol. it really helped my ds who had awful wind. he had it until he was 5 and a half months. he wind improved once he started to be able to get a bit more upright.

It would probably help a bit although I find gripe water works better. What works better than anything though in my opinion is baby massage - the cycling technique and pushing knees to chest in particular (check out youtube for some advice on how to do this). Its literally instant results for us and whilst my DS's knees are positioned into his chest one or more big pumps come out (sorryBlush ! ).

Sorry- forgot to say he's also very regular with opening his bowels so I'm assuming the baby massage helps that too.

I think infacol is worth a try then gripe water when she's old enough.

Exact same here (down to the age of the baby). I have been using infavol for weeks and it helps a bit - certainly I'm now too scared to stop!

It's really hard. The doc prescribed colief for us but it made LO sick and was farcical to use since I'm BF.

We then got gaviscon as HV told me LO had reflux. Gaviscon helped. I felt the syraining got worse so convinced myself he was constipated (nappies all dried up) so gp prescribed lactulose. Just before we started using it, nappies got VERY wet - glad we didn't use it.

With all these things I worried LO wouldn't have space in his tummy for milk...

Anyway, long and short no advice but lots of sympathy and good luck finding what works for you! Follow your instincts and don't just give what doc's say!

My daughter was the same for about the first two months or so (she's now 4 and a half months and it just got better gradually as she grew). I tried Infacol - can't say it made any difference in her case, just caused constipation! I found a warm bath and massaging her belly with olive oil for a few minutes helped ease things up best.
