Cosleeping and stopping

DD is coming up to 19m and we cosleep. It suits us for now, but I'm expecting DC2 in September.

She has only recently started sleeping through without needing milk (I still bf). I can leave her for an hour or two before I turn in, so I don't have an issue leaving her.

I am thinking to move her to her own room and bed, rather than attempting the cot.

Does anyone have experience of this or anyone in a similar situation need a sound board for how it's all going?

Mine is three but we went through this when he was two. I think you have done really well getting her asleep on her own so the transition to her own bed might not be as bad as you think! The issue we have is now he goes asleep in his own bed but always putter patters through at 5am ish for a feed! I haven't tried too hard to stamp this out not at all but maybe would if I was in your position with dc2 on the way

Sorry I don't have any advice as I have an 11mo DS who cosleeps and ideally I'd like to start thinking about putting him in his own room, but don't have the energy to do anything very proactive so it probably won't happen soon! Could I be cheeky and ask how you got her sleeping through without feeding whilst still cosleeping? If I could do this with DS it would be amazing! Don't know if he's just still too young though.

Blushing, you probably don't want to hear this but she just did it herself.

We did try a very half hearted version of Jay Gordon's night weaning but we got sidetracked by a cold (hers) and gastritis (me).

Our situation is compounded y the fact we're looking to move soon too... But that may make things easier. Who knows?

Actually that does make me feel better! I'd love to think he'd eventually get there on his own without me having to do anything - just find it hard to imagine he will! I keep thinking I'll need to put him in his own cot as the more mobile he gets the more he moves around the bed, but then once he's asleep he's asleep and I just keep the video monitor on to keep an eye on him. Can see us going on like this for a while! Good luck with yours!
