.... do I need to buy nappies and wraps? What are the wrap bits? Covers?
Do you think they save you money or do you spend just as much as you would on disposables washing them?
many thanks.

yep tots bots nappies but motherease wraps
will send you an email with full details

NAB3 · 03/11/2006 17:50

You may be able to get £30 off the cost through your council so it is worth checking. If you ask at www.thenappylady.co.uk she will be able to tell you if your council qualifies and she will knock the £30 off and bill the council for the money back.

I have been using washables for the last (almost) 6 years with 3 children and I can definitely recommend tots bots rainbow nappies and motherease airflow wraps. And minki huggles for night time and you may need the next size up wrap from daytime use as they are very bulky but brilliantly absorbant.

Selling some nappies/wraps (1 brand new) on here if still looking.

ive seen some on ebay and some people say they do and some dont.
also, as it is blue, is it 'boyish' as i have 2 boys?

I would just like to add that it doesn't always work out cheaper having two consecutive babies in washables if like me there is a short age gap between babies and the big ones bum is still in them when 2nd baby comes along! You either have to wash a ton of nappies every day or get a pile more - and the doubling up is for a relatively short time so you don't get your moneys worth from them. All in all though we have saved money over disposables but not as much as if we had timed the birth of No2 for after DS1 was potty trained!! Needing so many of the darned things my advice would be that the quicker drying they are the less you need, so stuffables would be my option every time and stuff them with things that fold out flat. Can't be doing with hemp it takes sooo long to dry, and as I am cloth nappying to save money AND help the environment I refuse to tumble dry nappies.

Dragonhart · 09/11/2006 11:42

That is exactly the same prob as I have at the mo fliberty. Cant decide what the best type of nappy is best to add. Think I will go to washing every night and that might help. Also might buy some more smaller terrys.

I am dreading having two in nappies, I must admit. Esp at the start when there are so many newborn nappies to change!

LOTF

So sorry, have only just seen this as I have a nappy question myself!! Wish there was a thread since last visit link.

Yes, the dizzy diaper does need a wrap. It is an unbleached colour with thin blue stripes. HTH.

NAB3 · 09/11/2006 12:28

I have 3 in nappies..................

Dragonhart · 09/11/2006 13:15

Gosh Nab. Ok, I will feel lucky I will only have only 2!

Utka · 09/11/2006 13:36

Ladyofthe flowers - if you decide to go ahead with Tots Bots and are interested, I'm advertising a complete set of Tots Bots washable nappies and Motherease wraps over on the 'for sale' topic. I bought them for dd2 from age 13 months and she wore them through to 25 months when she potty trained. They were super and never leaked. They would have been ok for her from about 10 months but I was a bit slow to decide what to get!

Happy to provide advice on sizing and washing if this would help.

LadyOfTheFlowersIs1Baby1Bump · 09/11/2006 15:58

cheers utka.
would love to buy your set, its exactly everything i need but i cant afford to! its a really good price too.

flibbertyjibbet · 09/11/2006 17:56

Another thing no one told me is that if you have bigger babies (I have two whopper boys) any 'one size' and tots bots size 2 will be too small well before potty training.
So even if you buy birth to potty you either end up in disposables, buy a bigger size or (as I did) make your own nappies after a few months from the flat nappies that are a disaster when baby starts wriggling. Just been making a batch of fleece lined, towelling outer, stuffables which are HUGE but I am convinced will do whopper No1 until he is dry at night. No I haven't got time to make nappies but no way am I forking out for a set of size 3's!
For quick but tumble-free drying, DH fixed up one of those old fashined pulley and wooden maiden thingies that people used to have in the kitchens, in the high ceiling bit over the stairs, you don't even notice its there, all the warm air wafts up there, and my home made nappies are almost dry the next morning after a late night wash. Can't bear em on the radiators and direct heat spoils the elastic anyway.

porpoise · 09/11/2006 18:00

I have a TotBots nappy - brand new - sent to me as a sample. No idea what size (sorry - cloth nappy virgin).
Happy to send to anyone (in the UK) who wants it.
Any takers?

CorrieDale · 09/11/2006 18:04

If you do go for Tots (they're brilliant by the way) don't buy them on Ebay! Way over-priced. Go to the Nappy Lady's classified and get them from there. Bamboozles are dear wherever you get them, but last time I looked, Tots classics were going for buttons because everybody wants Bamboozles.

porpoise · 09/11/2006 19:55

no takers?
It's free!
Would be a shame to throw it away...
