How to braid, bun etc long straight hair. My mum has had a curled bob since the 60s.
She has no truck with underwrite bras or make up.
I shudder to think of the orange, overly pushed up creature with a wonky pineapple do I was till I figured those out.

How to sew!! I have had to send DD's teddy for repair to my mum more times than I can count! She also turns up trousers for me and alters straps. I get stressed trying to thread a needle!

How to measure for curtains! The first set I bought fit the window exactly with no gather at all. I then was told how to do it but having paid the money could not afford a replacement set so for the next year or so had two pieces of material stretched taut over my window!

I missed the being able to drink a bottle of brandy straight then get up for work the next morning for work skill.

My mum used to French plait my hair and do fishtail braids. I picked up the French plait really easily but only learnt last year how to master the fishtail. Not a genuine life skill I know Grin but I have a dd and 2 more on the way so hairstyles are quite important to me now.

I also wish my mum taught me how to make puff pastry and homemade pies as hers were always lovely. I've tried learning and failed so end up buying shop bought pastry.
