Still worth getting a sling for round the house if i have a decent baby carrier?

Just that, really. DS2 is 2 weeks old and i really like the idea of being able to carry him around the house with my hands free. We have a BabyBjorn with good lumbar support that worked well for DS1 when out and about, but i'm not so sure it's as good round the house e.g. If i need to bend over at all, i need to support DS's head with one hand. I know many people swear by slings - will one really be more convenient for me? For info, i'm not bfing and DS2 is a big heavy baby.

For a tiddler I'd get a stretchy wrap (and use it everywhere) although a soft-structured carrier or mei-tei would work just as well.

A good carrier will work just as well at home as it will out. Have a Google/fb search to see if there's a sling library/consultant/meet near you that will enable you to borrow and/or try several types.

For info, I bought an ergo carrier and used it absolutely everywhere. And still do occasionally and DS is 4.

I use a connecta out of the house and a cheap ring sling in the house. Smile

I love my closer caboo. I have a carrier for when DD is bigger.

Really like a stretchy wrap for when they're little, or a sling if you like the idea of tying. I find a non-stretchy sling best as it moulds to your body shape and feels secure with heavier weights. I could cook dinner, clean etc with it on, they feel really secure when you have to bend down.
I had a sling consultant come round and help me choose one/learn to tie. Cost about 25 but if you can get to a sling library then you can get free help.

I use a carrier for outside (boba 4g) and a stretchy wrap for inside (boba wrap). It's more comfortable if I'm sitting down and has more of a gentle bounce if I'm trying to get DS to sleep. I prefer the carrier for shopping etc, it's quicker to do up and feels more secure plus it fits under a jacket better.

I use a caboo (stretchy no knots hybrid sling) for inside and a manduca (structured carrier with padding) for outside

I used a Connecta from 3 months with my eldest. I bought a Moby (stretchy wrap) to use with my newborn when he arrived but I couldn't figure out how to feed in it & would have to take it all every time so my son just went straight into the connecta. I would also recommend going to a sling library & trying a few different ones out before you buy.
