Anyone used the Sleepyhead bed pillow?

I really like the idea of it and it has great reviews but it is quite pricey.

How do you use it? Does it go in the cot? Is it safe with a grobag as well? Wouldn't the baby get too hot?

Yes, it's amazing, I highly recommend it! My almost 8 month old DD sleeps really well in her sleepyhead, we bought the bigger size when she grew out of the first size. We live overseas and it cost a lot to ship out to where we live but well worth it.
We used the smaller size inside a Bednest crib, then the larger size now in her large cot bed. It stops her rolling about too much and she seems snug and very comfortable. She wears a sleep suit and we use layers of cellular blankets depending on the room temperature. I'm pretty sure it would be fine with a gro bag, just follow the same principles as you usually would for togs and room temperature.
It's brilliant for travelling, it fits inside a travel cot so DD always has a consistent place to sleep, a little piece of home away from home. We brought ours back in a suitcase for a recent visit to UK, it takes up a fair bit of space but it's squashable and easily packed.
Go for it Smile

We've bought one for dc2, after realising with dc1 that Moses baskets aren't all that. Planning to put it straight in the cot. Prob won't use grobags for a while, dc2 due in May so expecting it to be warm enough to just use a vest/sleepsuit.

Highly recommend. We used inside the crib, but if you're away can be used in a travel cot and I know some folk use it with baby in their bed. We didn't get such good use out of the bigger size, it helped transition to cot - but after a few weeks she wanted to move more and seemed to spend too much time trying to fling herself out of it. Was good to settle her in during some nights away from home though. Both will be reused for second child. Covers expensive and you definitely need more than one cover. I used to put another sheet over it to mop up possets.

Thanks all. DH is adamant that we should get one, as a colleague has recommended it too.

The reviews seemed a bit too good but as you are all agreeing I think it's a no brainer Smile

Hmmmm .... I'm on the fence I'm afraid. Bought the bigger version for DS when he was 8 months thinking that it would be the answer to our sleeping dreams. It wasn't. But aside from that (can't really blame sleepyhead for having a non sleeping baby !) my main issues with it are the quality of the item as compared to the price. Our original covers have stained very very easily and haven't washed well - and it's really quite basic materials when you take it apart to wash. I wouldn't totally dismiss cheaper alternatives.

DD looks so comfy in hers. Sleeps like a dream (although she's always been a good sleeper)

We use grow bags instead of blankets.

lucidlady · 04/04/2015 22:15

We have the Grand. Waste of money. DS absolutely refuses to sleep in it for more than a couple of hours at a time. We got it when he was 4 months. Might have been different if we'd used one since birth but it's definitely not a miracle item.

BrianButterfield · 04/04/2015 22:19

I rolled up blankets and put them under the fitted sheet in the cot/Moses basket, which does a similar job for much less money!

Koalafications · 04/04/2015 22:52

Nooooo! My decision was made, now I'm confused. Confused

We love ours.

BUT ... dd had it from a week old and is a reasonably ok night sleeper (colds, teething etc aside) so I can't say it makes her sleep! It's just her "bed" as I sleep very fitfully and roll about so was worried about Co sleeping.

We used a poddle pod too. Think they are around £50 new but I bought one of eBay for a tenner and just bought a brand new cover for it.

VeryPunny · 05/04/2015 19:22

We bought one when DD was two days old and refusing to sleep anywhere but on me. It made the difference between no sleep and some sleep! Used it again for DS, but both were out of it by about 16 weeks. Much better value compared to the Moses basket which was used for storing water bottles and remote controls.

LeopardLamp · 05/04/2015 22:26

Ours was a godsend honestly. My dd slept really well in it compared to Moses basket, which seemed really big for a newborn. She looked so cosy in the Sleeoyhead. We got the big one at about 9/10 months once she outgrew it and it helped transition her into just sleeping in a cot.
I know a few people who used toddlepods but was put off because the website doesn't say they can be used for sleep, probably a bit pfb of me though.

Koalafications · 05/04/2015 22:55

Thanks all. I think we will go ahead and get one. The positive reviews seem to outweigh the negative ones and the baby will be in their cot bed from birth so I think this may make it more appealing Smile
