Not when they were toddlers, for sure.
I suspect my dc would have been around about5,6 or 7

I took them pretty young to see toy story 3 but to a family screening with cheap tickets and children everywhere. Good but ds was so transfixed that he flooded the seat Blush.

4 ish I reckon really. If you have a cine world then they do weekend and school holiday cheap tickets for older films. I'm taking my bigger ones next week and it will be under £5 for the 3 of us. We are also really lucky that our village hall does monthly family film nights showing whatever has just come out on DVDs and it has an interval and sells ice creams so we tend to stick to that!

Think mine were around age 3

RhinosAreFatUnicorns · 04/04/2015 20:44

Mine were 3 - the local cinema does cheap Saturday morning kids films. Great when it's raining.

IAmAPaleontologist · 04/04/2015 20:52

I just checked when toy story was released, so ds will have been 2 and a half and dd eighteen months and far too young for it really and I wouldn't have taken her on anything other than a family screening.

Seen a mum with her toddler and 2 week old baby at the cinema recently Confused cringe for her

tryingtocatchthewind · 04/04/2015 20:58

Took my little one yesterday, he's 3 and 3 months and was transfixed for the whole two hours. It was a kids club showing so I was happy to leave if I had to as it was only £4 for us both

moomoob · 04/04/2015 23:31

Our local cinemas are a cineworld & an empire cinema both do a juniors showing on a Saturday and sun morning of a film that's been out a few months for about £1.50 each. It's worth taking them to these films 1st to see how they like it and you've not wasted a fortune if you need to leave early. Mine were around 3 when they 1st went the cinema.

3 and a half. They've been fine

littlesupersparks · 05/04/2015 18:33

Took them as babies to baby screening and also took youngest along when we went to see something with the 2yo - Planes I think?

My current 2yo isn't that great - I wouldn't pay for him to go to a 'proper' screening - I did with Postman Pat and regretted it. It was a lot of money and he was too little. My 4yo loves the cinema. We try to wait until the film we want to see comes out on the kids screening. We take a box of snacks/lunch, but some penny sweets from the shop and it's £2.50 a ticket.

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 05/04/2015 18:35

Depends on the kid and the film. DD was fine from 2 and I took her brothers as tiny nursing babies.

However DS2 was a liability til 3 and a few months. Had to take him out mid way through Despicable Me 2 just before he turned 3.

Now he's nearly 4 he is perfect through an age appropriate animation with action and laughs - had to take him out of some film about a Dolphin my older 2 were desperate to watch a few months ago - it just wasn't holding his attention though 7 and 9 yos were gripped.

I'd say 3 is safe for an animation like Home or Sean the Sheep.

I took my twins to see a 60 minute Peppa Pig screening when they were 2.4. They loved it, were glued to the screen and munched away on popcorn.

I don't think I would try a full length movie until they are at least 3.
