I'm looking for some recommendations please Smile
I do not want to use a Bumboo or anything similar but I'm not sure what I can sit my DS in when we start weaning x

Antilop wouldn't have worked for us, we needed something which would fit behind a door when not in use as we're very short on space. We have a mamas and papas Pixi and love it, it took no extra cushions etc to stop him sliding down at first and he's still using it as a chair at 2.5.

We got a Tripp trapp and it has been a good buy - dd is 2.5 and sits in hers to watch tv do craft stuff as well as for eating so she is in it a lot.

Antilop can be taken apart and put in the dishwasher.

Antilop! I started weaning ds in it at 6 months. Then took the tray off and he used it til he was almost 4 just so he was at the right height for the table. Easy to clean and good value

I also had a.bumbo with a tray, used it lots, as we often eat sat on the floor to eat, also for any.other floor based activities. I also used to put them in it in a very safe corner of the work top, so they could see me when I was cooking which was great. Stopped this as soon as they had any sort of mobility. The period when they can use it is quite short so I wouldn't pay full price but if you can pick.one up for a fiver 2nd hand they do cone in handy.

We had a bumbo given to us and found it really, really useful. It depends on the child I suspect. DD hated lying down almost from the minute she was born. Bouncy chairs were no good as they were reclined. As soon as she was old enough for the bumbo she was like a different child. It made her very, very happy and meant I wasn't carrying her round upright all the time.

We have two Tripp Trapps, an Antilop and a Ikea toddler high chair (urban or similar)
Pros and cons
TT is v solid and next to impossible to overturn. We can sit in it comfortably as adults and it can go on to be used as a bedroom desk chair. It's regularly used as a step too. Pain in the ass to move between rooms, out to the garden etc. it's so heavy.
so we bought two plastic chairs from Ikea which can be left outside with no damage but we v regularly use both over the winter indoors for visiting kids and our nanny's child.
Bang for buck the Antilop is a no brainer. The design makes it difficult to sit right up to the table so food ends up on knees more than the TT.thats my only complaint.

This is why I won't be using a Bumboo - mamaot.com/2013/07/16/beware-the-baby-bumbo-seat/

Thank you for your recommendations - looks like I have a shopping trip on the horizon Smilex

I am not a bumbo fan, but that article seems rather ott for normal use. Most people use them for short periods and supervised, and also not as a substitute for learning to sit unaided.
