What could I use that's safe to make a print of my dd's hand and foot? any alternatives to the ink pads you can buy?

You can get inkless sets I think.

They sell hand print sets in mamas and papas that have clay where you squish their hand in. It is quite hard to do, we did this at about 2 weeks.
when dd was about 6 weeks old I went to finger print jewellery and made a print to then make into cufflinks.
Then the pottery cafe at 3 months for hand print mugs.
I love a good hand print!

I've done my son's footprints from when he was born, 6 months old and 1 year old all with a thin layer of watercolour paint brushed on his feet and squashed to a bit of thick paper that I put a fine wash over first, then framed.
I have his baby footprints with his name and birth weight written around his feet in a 'Baby Boy' frame. You do need to do a few practice trials to get excess paint off etc. but they do look cute when it's finished. Cheaper!
