Baby sweating

My 7 month old sweats so much when she is asleep, her hair and back is always wet. Is there anything I can do to improve the smell of her hair? I bathe her every two days and I wipe her neck, hands, etc with water and cotton wool everyday. Should I use less shampoo or more shampoo? At what age should I start bathing her everyday? She does not have cradle cap.

What does she sleep in? Are you in the uk? It's not that hot here yet.

It's fine to bath a 7 month old every day if you want can be bothered unless, like my ds at that age, they have eczema.

Less clothes at night.

Id say she's too hot. Are her hands cool at night? They shouldn't be warm or hot, if they are, she's too hot.

And you can bath her everyday. Gets them into a good routine of bath, (wears them out), bottle, bed.

What does she sleep in and what do you cover her with? Does she have heating on in her room?

Mimsey · 25/03/2015 10:49

Thanks so much for your replies. Her hands are warm when she's asleep. The room tends to stay between 26-29 degrees (baby monitor reading). It doesn't feel cold to me, but it is not excessively warm. She sleeps in a sleeveless vest with a onesie on top (the kind in the 3 pack from mamas and papas) It doesn't feel like a very thick fabric. I cover her with a light blanket. It's very confusing, I don't want her to overheat, but at the same time I don't want her to get cold.

That is a very warm room, dd's only reached those temperatures over the summer and she slept only in a vest then (started with a blanket over her but always kicked it off). Nowhere in our house is intentionally kept above 19 degrees though, just layer accordingly.

Is it possible to turn the heating down a notch or perhaps lose a clothes layer to keep her a bit cooler?
You can wash hair more frequently if no skin complaints and mild shampoo, but preventing the sweating would probably be a better option. What sort of sheets and mattress does she have?

Rosieliveson · 25/03/2015 11:13

If that's degrees c then it is a very hot room. If it won't cool down could you get a fan in there?

Yeah room is too hot. 16-20 is the right temp for a baby. We find we stick to 19-20 as its too cold for us below that.
I would try to reduce temp in the house if you can. But if not then reduce layers on baby. I'd maybe do babygrow but no vest. Or just a vest and light sheet.
