Try a Close Caboo. Soft and snuggly for a newborn and very easy to use as it has rings so you don't have to tie it. Should last til 6-9 months.

A stretchy type (moby, boba stretchy, victoria sling lady, hana, kari-me) is probably the most comfortable at that age (or the close caboo which as Keturah says has rings rather than being tied).
Are you using a woven wrap at the moment? If it is new, it might just not be "broken in" yet - have a google for ideas for softening up, but you can try things like sitting on it, running it through the bannisters, braiding it...

Rachie

What brand did you buy. Most slings/wraps need to be broken in first to soften them up and it can make a world of difference.

Try washing the wrap in a non-bio wash (no conditioner) and Google some videos on how to braid the wrap as this can loosen the fibres and make the whole thing more malleable. I also put mine under the fitted sheet in our bed each night and the body heat/movement really softened it up too. That was on my Girasol Ring Sling.

For younger babies, the best wraps are stretchies, like close caboo or Moby. They are usually fairly soft to begin with and will support an average size baby up to around six months when you would get more from a woven, ring sling or buckled carrier.

Congratulations on your little squish!

If you use facebook there are loads of sling pages, try Slings and Things - FSOT and advice, or Affordable Baby Slings for Sale or Swap for advice. Also, see if you have a local sling library where you can get practical help and try different slings.

What type did you buy from Amazon?

TeaandHobnobs · 13/03/2015 20:51

Rachie is it a Mei Tai style sling? So like an apron panel with long straps? Like this one?
If so, a quick google is telling me that they are very poorly made and potentially unsafe (see here).

You can get a good stretchy wrap (like a moby or boba) for around £45 new, or probably around £20 on the Facebook sling pages Madratlady suggests.

Find out if there is a sling meet or sling library near you, you can get advice on using your sling from them.
