'Temporary' black out blinds recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a black out blind that isn't the Gro Blind?

We used that before but I didn't find it to be particularly. We also don't want to drill in a permanent blind. We're using black out curtains..

Anyone recommendations/suggestions please oh wise folk of Mumsnet?

What's the issue, is there light coming round the sides?

You could try black blindsinabox, we used these for about 9 months after moving into our house, so they are sturdy, a fantastic invention!

If you really are desperate (as I have been in the past...), tin foil works amazingly well. Wet the glass with a damp cloth, the tin foil will stick and block out every last bit of light.

Not great as a permanent solution but it is good for holidays etc.

The other thing I do is to buy an expandable net rod and some black out fabric. Sew a channel in the top of the fabric for the rod (and hem with weights if you can) and then just put it up at night and roll it up in the morning.

We use easy blackout blinds. We got them off amazon. You stick sticky back Velcro strips around the window frame (if you have white upvc you can't see it) then cut the blind material to fit. It doesn't let in any ANY!!! Light. In the morning I just pull it off and fold it up, at night it takes 30 seconds to put in place. Over a year on the sticky back Velcro hasn't moved or started to pull away from the window frame. Highly reccomended.

Thank you everyone I'll take a look at those!

Yes it's light getting in round the sides. We didn't like the gro blinds - the sticky things came out of the blind, it was massive on our window, a faff to take down and put back up and we ended up with black mould from condensation on the sill. Sad

Friends turned up at our house with some fantastic ones which pop up (like pop up tents) and then fasten with a string and toggle to a suction pad which goes on the window. I will see if I can find them online somewhere, but they were very effective in our (less than adequately curtained) spare room, inspite of awkward deep windows.

I am pretty sure they were these

Oooh spoiled for choice now, some of these look really clever!

Yes I'm getting excited about blackout blinds Grin

In a pinch kitchen foil works really well! It can be moulded to any shape and will stick well.
