Dd 12m seems to have lost interest in food... help please!?!

DD 12months has always been a good eater, ate anything I gave her, drank her milk etc.

Three weeks ago she was on antibiotics for an ear infection, lost her appetite for a couple of days, but started to eat well again.

Three days now, she's hardly eaten anything I've given her, refusing her milk, and generally being grumpy. She's not teething, took her to the docs yesterday, they couldn't see anything wrong with her so I am completely stumped.
Today shes had
Breakfast - half of her bowl of weetabix
Dinner - half a tuna sandwich and a few mouthfuls of yogurt
Tea - quarter of a bowl of cauliflower cheese her favourite
No milk as she won't drink it
She's had one cup of juice all day, but plenty of wet nappies so not worried about dehydration.

I've left finger food out all day for her but she's had no interest in it.

I am completely stumped on what I can do to get her to eat. Shes a tiny little thing as it is and I don't want her to lose any weight.

Thanks for any advice

I think they just go through phases. this would be a normal day for my 17 month old, he just isn't a big eater. I wouldn't worry if she is eating some foods, I would just wait it out and she will probably improve again.

Probably a phase. Their food requirements drop off hugely after 12 months as their grown slows.

Smartiepants79 · 11/03/2015 20:48

They all have hungry and not hungry phases. Growth spurts etc..
As long is she is eating something and drinking then I'd not worry too much and just keep an eye over the next week.
A nurse friend of mine always says you should worry more about how much they eat over a week rather than in one day. We all have picky days.

My ds has been doing this- he's 15 months and it's been really worrying me as he's always been such an enthusiastic eater. Some days he just seems to eat less than others, half as much in some cases. It's good to hear it's common!! I put it down to teething...but then I put everything down to teething!

MinaZahur · 12/03/2015 12:19

It must be a phase. I have a thin twelve month old who is just refusing to open his mouth at the moment (been going on for about two weeks now). He doesnt eat much normally but during his special phases it becomes a headache to get him to eat or drink anything. I usually just put it down to teething because as soon as the white starts to show his appetite does come back. As long as he is active and playing around I have realized its fine.

AnythingNotEverything · 12/03/2015 12:22

I was going to suggest teething. Molars in particular seem to have an effect on appetite for some children.

I'm sure she's taking enough - just continue to be mindful of fluid intake.

Perfectly normal behaviour. As long as you keep offering food and make it available to her, she'll eat when she is hungry. Babies' appetites wax and wane, heck even my 3yo and 8yo have hungry periods when they eat more than me and non-hungry periods when I think they are living off air, but the important thing is not to make it an issue and not to try and force food on her if she doesn't want it.

NickyEds · 12/03/2015 15:21

Op, are you just carrying on as normal food-wise? I'm becoming tempted to give him things I know he'll eat ( the boy has yet to turn down banana or a yogurt) but I don't want it to become fussyness, ie not eating his meal to get a banana.

ChunkyMonkeysMummy · 12/03/2015 17:18

Nicky Yes im still giving her what she usually eats, but doubling up on yogurts and fruit which she won't refuse Smile for a dessert. She's been a little better today, but has turned into the dribble monster again so I reckon she's gonna be rocking some new teeth soon Wink
HV told me today that If it's an ongoing problem, keep a food diary for a few weeks and they'll review and make suggestions.
