not the most interesting thread topic, but i'd be glad of some advice.

dd is 2 and 3 mo. she is def ready to ditch nappies, and has been since july/ august but i'm so lazy and inconsistent when it comes to putting her on potty at regular times. she will use the loo and potty to wee. but only ever done a couple of poos on the potty.

should i just ditch the nappies altogether one day soon, and spend lots of time at home with pants on? or shoukld i try to phase in nappy free time little by little? the latter approach does worry me, though , as i'm no good at sticking to a plan/ routine.
TIA

don't worry about leaving it "too late". There is no such thing as late with toilet training. If she was ready for it in summer she will be even more ready for it now. Be brave, ditch the nappies and see how she goes. If she remembers the potty and uses it well over the weekend, you're home safe. if not, keep her in nappies a bit longer. The only thing I would say if potty training is to keep your diary free for a couple of days while she gets the hang of it. I don't think phasing the nappies out is really the way to go. Whatever you dercvide you need to be consistent. We tried using feel and learn pants as a way of phasing out gradually but ds just thought he was wearing a nappy and weed in them anyway1 Good luck

I left dd as I was also lazy. Then at 2yr7m she did it all herself. She uses the potty when we're in the house and we had a few probs with being out and about but we've done it slowly and she's done it herself. she asks for the loo when we're out and about and has had no accidents

pixiefish, dd has started to say ' i need a wee' and will put herself on the loo from time to time. she just needs to unlearn the habit of weeing in her nappy. maybe i should follow your example.

dd 1 wasnt ready till 2.5, btw. but got it sussed in days. i hate to see people doing it too early.

Guaranteed if I put a nappy on her she'll wee in it so i just don't. Went to b and q today and she asked for the loo- just plan my trips a bit more to make sure there's a loo there. Don't worry about it- just elave her nappyless around the hosue wen you can and she'll soon start. As soon as she starts in the house then start out and about as well. No point stressing anyone though. She seems a bit young to do it the way I did it though
