Giving up the bottle

Please help! My DD is nearly 17 months old and still needs a bottle to go to sleep. She still has a bottle in the daytime too.

I really want to train her to fall asleep by herself but have no idea where to start. I was thinking one of those sleep aid teddys with lights and music. Any experience of these?

She can sleep through the night but it's falling asleep that's the issue.

I've gone from literally bouncing her for 15 minutes to getting her in her own cot but she still needs a bottle!

Someone please help!!

Start watering the bottle down bit by bit. She will give it up herself eventually.

Is it the milk itself you want to cut out, or giving it from an actual bottle?

All of it really but mainly the bottle

To be honest, it's not uncommon to keep having milk at bedtime well beyond 2 years. In regards to the bottle, we managed to switch to a cup, it took a long time and a lot of cups until we found one she would drink from. We also switched up our bedtime routine once we'd found the right cup. So instead of sitting in the rocking chair in her room and holding her while she drank, we switched to giving her the cup whilst she lays on our bed, letting her drink it then carrying her through to her cot, kiss, night night, walk out.

I will be honest and say that she was rarely falling asleep on the bottle, so did have it in her to self settle, but she liked to get drowsy on the bottle. It took a couple of weeks to adapt, but the change in routine really seemed to help, and she is now good as gold at going to sleep. (16 months).

Ps. We use a Nuby cup with a soft teat
