Hello Smile

I have a ten week old daughter and am hoping for some suggestions - what do you do in between feeding, nappies, bathing and sleeping. We've started going to activities outside of the house but what do you do at home? What nursery rhymes do your little ones love or what silly faces make them laugh? I'm looking for some inspiration for any fun ideas no matter how big or small Grin

Thank you,
LQx

Going "brrr" (horse noise, or kind of a raspberry with just your lips) and gently touching her face with my lips as I do it, the vibration makes her smile. Massive over dramatic kisses too.

Slouching on the sofa and sitting her on my tummy and gently bouncing her.

Singing and dancing in front of her usually with a made up song.

"Machine gun" her legs- when she's lying down, pick up a leg in each hand, hold them together, then lift them a bit so her bums off the floor and bounce them up and down moving in a circle and making a machine gun noise.

Forcibly bouncing her in her bouncer while sticking my face right up to hers (more than gentle but not to the point of shaken baby...!)

Would also love to hear what other things make babies laugh!

Thanks Moggle. Blowing raspberries is Baby LQs favourite game. I'll give machine gun legs a go Grin

Baby LQ likes:

  • Wind the Bobbin Up song and actions and This Little Piggy nursery rhyme
  • me singing opera style badly
  • Laying in the nudey before her bath on a mat in the warm bathroom and kicking about
  • When in bath, pouring water on her feet from a jug quite high up so it splashes and singing 'Splish Splash I was having a bath"
  • watching me vacuum seems to be entertaining too Confused

All the above ... also "5 little speckle-frogs" is a favourite we've sung since newborn days.
"Rolly Rolly rolly" is a game my dh invented it's hardly rocket science but he's proud consisting of very gently rolling the baby over a soft mat or blanket so she can feel the texture on different limbs/sides, while saying 'rolly rolly rolly rolly' etc.

KeturahLee · 09/03/2015 19:58

I didn't really do anything at that age, just got on with my normal activities.

Blow bubbles!

They always enjoy watching housework (and TV)

BossWitch · 09/03/2015 21:19

Baths! Splishy splashy time together.

Baby biscuit loves raspberries been blown either on his cheek or when I'm about 10 cms away.

Playing for short periods in his bouncer so he can bat the hanging bits (hes 10 weeks too)

My wonderful singing to the radio or to random songs

Dancing to jazz- we recently found a song he goes nuts for.

Lifting him onto his feet for short periods.

Over dramatic kisses

Ds finds it fun to watch the washing machine too

At 10wks my DD enjoyed going for coffee, walks, drinking tea&eating choccy biscuits at friends houses, Mums&Baby cinema trips (although her eyes/ears were covered at inappropriate scenes), long conversations about what to make for dinner around the grocery store, conversations with old ladies around the grocery store...

In the house she liked my narration of housework, head shoulders knees and toes and the Hokey Cokey (with actions), Eggheads on the TV and her play gym

My DD is a big fan now (8 months) and has been since about 6 weeks of a game my DH invented. Like the PPs husband, he is very proud of this Grin it's called (imaginatively) "Pillow Drop" and involves dropping a pillow or cushion on her from various heights with a countdown. She squeals at the anticipation.

When mine was 10 weeks old I went on long walks with the pushchair punctuated by coffee and cakes in cafes and breastfeeds. It was high summer and I got a lovely tan!
