If your 14yr dd 'phoned to say she had forgotten her pack-up ,would you drive 8 miles to drop it off?Or would you let her learn? tia.

Yes I would deliver it. But then I am a soft touch.

Pack up is a Derbyshire/East Midlands phrase.

No, I'm too busy during the day. I'd tell her to buy a school lunch and give her her pack up for her dinner so it wasn't wasted.

It's not about 'teaching a lesson' in a punitive way. It's natural consequences leading to responsibility for adulthood.

I'm at work during the day so mine wouldn't ask me to drop off lunch but they would probably text and ask me to put some money on their parentpay account.

I'm from the East Mids (South Derbyshire) and have never heard it! Blush

It depends. Today I took something in for DS2 because as he was about to leave this morning I thought "I saw XX by the arm chair. I wonder if he picked it up?" but didn't say anything. Last week I didn't take something in because I told him to pick it up when he was standing right by the items.

If they were due home at the normal time I wouldn't take lunch in, if they had an after school activity I probably would.

It's not an 8 mile trip for me though.

Thanks for the replies .l thought everyone called it pack up ? My dd hobbled in ,and apologised for being somewhat demanding on the 'phone. She found money in her bag I'm glad I didn't bother.
