you you ever find yourself wanting to yell 'grow up' at other (not mature) students?

SOme of the students on my course really annoy me (though the majority are lovely ). Lets face it I'm only 3-4 years older than them, but dear god they need to grow up!

Am I the only one who gets this? or do other 'mature' students?

One girl on my course annoys me intensely. She usually hangs around with another friend and they whisper and giggle. She also mocks people (usually mature students) that she thinks are 'sad' (they actually couldn't give a shit what she thinks). SHe must be 20-21, but acts like a 12 year old.

She's never done anything to me, but she just typifies some of the behaviour of the other students and I just find myself wanted to yell 'you're not at school anymore - you're an adult, now act like it'.

IT is irrational I know, but it makes me feel very distanced from the main body of students - though a lot are really lovely and do act like adults - but this does tend to be the ones that are older.

Argh I just want to slap them!

Does anyone else get this?

Well when one of them left a note on Prof's desk saying X fancies you I felt like banging my head on the wall LOL, but she is 24 . I feel that many of the students on my course are immature, yet it seems to bear no relationship to their age sadly.

I wanted to yell at them when I was the same age as them! can't bear that whole "ooooo I'm a student, me! Look at me I'm so wackeee/crazeee / anarchic ...I'm gunna get pissed and put washing up liquid in that fountain/kick in the bus shelters cos NO ONE has EVER done that before cos I AM THE WILDEST"

aaaarrrrggghhh

Most of the mature students on my course are nobs.

(i am 22 so not a mature student in nursing, maybe that makes me biased)

Occasionally, but I don't think it is because they are younger more that some of them are arseholes...

With one you can barely get a word in in class and when she is with her friends they are So. Loud.

Another; annoying voice, complete airhead, etc, etc.

Another; cocky wanker who thinks his attitude will get him through...

ETC

There are many lovely ones!

ilovecaboose · 26/10/2006 19:13

yeah you're right it probably has nothing to do with age - just that some people are naturally immature a*holes

Gald to see I'm not the only one who gets wound up with them

I keep overhearing bits of conversations of those who are housesharing and they are always bitching about one person - it makes me sad cos I know that person is probably not doing anything wrong, but instead of sorting it out face to face they bitch behind their back.

I really don't like it when people do that.

A friend of mine, very nice, conservative girl, who live with two awful girls, she hated it.

I remember going for a cup of tea there and this girl walked into the kitchen and then back out immediately grimacing when she saw us, no hi, no nothing. I remember thinking torn faced cow!

They were party girls, out late, very loud, agressive, swearing etc.

ilovecaboose · 26/10/2006 20:04

horrible innit - I hated living in a shared house when I was younger.

Well not a mature student here but at 23 and part of a group of 4th year language students returned from year abroad we would like to kill a fair few other students! Decided we are grumpy and proud.

Freshers scare me....is it really considered fun to watch someone spill beer all over and then vomit trying to do a yard? Was I really once a responsibility free fresher?

Blondilocks · 26/10/2006 23:02

I never really noticed this. I think I was lucky in so far as I lived with a lovely bunch of people (& a mixed group which always seems to work better). We never really noticed anyone bitching to the others. But I guess every group of people is different. We definitely didn't think badly of any of the mature students - most of them seemed lovely.

I don't think we were that wild as students ... although we did come home to find a shopping trolley on our kitchen table one night!

LazyLou · 27/10/2006 00:24

The majority of students on my course are actually lovely, well beyond the messing about stage. It's just my best friend I have to worry about, she is really immature at college and swears the whole way through really loudly (I'm 25, she's 21). Gets on my nerves and I wanna yell, shut up ffs!
