Today my poor boy fell over at nursery and got a stick stuck through his cheek Sad looks awful. He's had an operation and now staying in hospital for a few days as he's on iv antibiotics.

I can't stay with him because im breastfeeding my 10 week old, his dad is staying while he's in. But before I go in the morning I want to put together things he would like. He LOVES chocolate but he's finding it hard to eat so that can't be included.

Can you tell me what your 3 year old would like? I'm just completely stuck. Can only think of little chocs/sweets. Can't spend lots of money we don't really have it so can't be buying a big present.

Stories, colouring, card games, ipad/tv
Does he do much writing of letters? My dd has a wipeclean book with dotted letters to make words which she loves and takes ages to do.
Is there anything you always say no to that he could have as a treat? eg for me I would do nail painting

GoldNumbers · 04/03/2015 00:20

Ah thankyou so much. I really don't know why my brains not working I think I'm tired/still in shock.

I will get a little colouring book in the morning. He's not started writing letters yet but we can start now can't we, that sounds fab. i say no to lots of things haha im sure there's something I can treat him with which he wouldn't normally get. Can't think now though my brain is mush. Thanks for your reply x

temporary tattoos?
choc milkshakes?
a magazine from cbeebies?

Ah, bless him!
What about Kinder eggs with toys in? He can break the chocolate in little bits and let it melt in his mouth. Smoothies or yoghurt drinks like Yop that are quite filling.
Sticker books, paint by numbers or magic painting books where you use water to colour them.
Maybe something he can build, you can get little model kits and things in Wilkos and paint sets.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 04/03/2015 13:03

What about some little duplo sets? My 2.9 DD loves building things to look like the pictures with us

Hope he feels better soon Thanks

Poor little boy - I hope he recovers well Flowers

My 3-year-old loves diggers, Thomas the Tank Engine, Fireman Sam, stories, duplo, farms and tractors - so anything on those themes including magazines (particularly with a free gift on the front!), would make him very happy.

NotCitrus · 04/03/2015 13:28

Little toys of any kind, especially animals. A magazine with plastic tat toys would be my choice.
Hope he is home soon!

Dollybird99 · 04/03/2015 15:31

What about some stickers - my nearly 3 year old loves stickers. He also loves the Peppa Pig magazine, especially when it comes with 'extra bits'! The pound shop do some cool little books, and crayons, pencils etc and lots of bitty things if you want to fill a bag!

I hope he's home soon. xx

mynameissecret · 04/03/2015 15:34

Stickers and choc buttons that should just melt in his mouth

Hobbes8 · 04/03/2015 15:35

My son has gone nuts for paper aeroplanes at the moment, which are very cheap and easy.

PotteringAlong · 04/03/2015 15:37

My 3 year old DS loves stickers.

So sorry about his cheek - poor little man!

Stubbed · 04/03/2015 15:40

Cheap but my 3 yo son loves wearing my watches and jewellery. I gave him an old watch (lights up when you press a button) he was made up

Thurlow · 04/03/2015 15:45

Poor little thing Sad (and poor all of you after that scare!) YYY to stickers, always a winner. If you check the stationary aisle at your normal supermarket they tend to do all sort of dot and number stickers for about 50p a big pack - there will be hundreds of coloured dots for him to make his own pictures with. If he's allowed, get a glue stick and rip up coloured paper too for him to do his own cutting, gluing and sticking?

blardyfeck · 04/03/2015 15:55

Gosh, poor lad
My ds would love stickers, cbeebies magazine, little lego or playmobil figures, little toy animals, any books to do with the alphabet or counting, snap, dominoes
Hope he feels better soon

fairyelephantswellies · 04/03/2015 16:11

Another vote for stickers or cbeebies magazine with crayons. Would he like a pirate hat or something he could wear in bed, or a doctors dress-up set? Thanks

fairyelephantswellies · 04/03/2015 16:12

Meant to say, hope he comes home soon and that you're managing ok

GoldNumbers · 04/03/2015 18:05

Thanks everybody. The magazine and milkshake has gone down a treat, he's covered in stickers and now drawing.

Thanks all for your suggestions they really helped and he's had a much better day today. Hoping for home tomorrow. Thanks all for your wishes x
