I always thought it was after the 6 week check but lots of groups etc have said they welcome babies from any age.

When you feel ready Flowers.

I was out with DD2 3 days PP shopping for nursing bras and leaking all over Mothercare.

We went out when DS1 was 3 days old for a wander around the local retail park. It was lovely until DH freaked out when DS started crying for a feed!

As soon as possible, but don't plan anything too strenuous!

6 weeks!!! I think the older kids' school might object if they took 6 weeks off, because there was nobody to do the school run with them:) Even ds who was 14 weeks premature and only weighed 1.7kg when he finally came home only got two weeks of isolation before having to take his chances at toddler groups and on the (then) nursery run. Go out whenever you can physically walk out if the door!

I had my daughter 7.10pm and was at my mums house 12pm the next day. Luckily all went fine and I felt great.
I had to take her to hospital 2days after for checks,as it fell on a weekend.
Went shopping after, and had to do school runs also.

With my first, I didn't leave the house for a few weeks, different birth all together, found it difficult.

Whenever you feel ready hunny. Never heard of the 6week thing though. Enjoy and congratulations x

As soon as you can pack a changing bag and get "everything" you will need ready, plus actually get somewhere in the time it takes between feeds Grin

I remember a nosey woman telling me dd was too young to be in a supermarket - she was about a week old.

EightFiftySix · 02/03/2015 19:42

DD was born on the Monday night and we popped in to playgroup with her and DS first thing Tuesday morning on the way to her medical check. I slept for the rest of the day after that though! If you feel well, go for it.

Midwife told me baby can go out day after it was the mum who was the important one!

I walked round Bluewater when my DD was five days old!

Admittedly a woman looked me up and down (innocently) and I burst into tears and had to go home Wink
