Books and toddlers

Up to about 22months my ds loved reading books with me. Now at 2.5 he's not remotely interested, prefers cbeebies. He never wants bedtime reading evither. Is this normal, will it change?

Ds was similar at 2.4 he loves " reading" again so they do come round. Have you tried no books as he might have become a bit bored? Or a different style? Have you also tried getting some books of what he watches so Peter rabbit or Mike the knight etc?

Pop-up books, ones with flaps and things he can do himself. Or maybe them Leapfrog books with the pen you put other the words, might be interested in that.

I'm constantly buying new books as by the time my son has read a book about 34 times in one week, I need something new, ha. He is obsessed with Disney Cars now, and loves his Cars book. Get some books with characters in that he recognises and knows their names, then he can say their name when it's in the book...something like that.

Have you tried taking him to the library and letting him pick his own books to read?

Maybe he's bored of the ones at home or has grown out of them?

You could use your dc's interest in the characters they like to watch to spark an interest in reading.
My ds was mad about Fireman Sam at one point so we used to buy him books and magazines based on him. He used to pick them out from the supermarket and read them whilst in the trolley as well as at other times and we would fill in the workbook that came with it, which helped with his letter and number recognition.
